Top 5 Favorite Mario villains?

Mine: Bowser, Reclusa (from Brothership), Dimentio (from Super Paper Mario), Fawful (from the old trilogy of Mario & Luigi) and Count Bleck (from Super Paper Mario).
 
1. Wario (god I miss him being the main antagonist of a Mario game, he was really cool in Super Mario Land 2)
2. Donkey Kong (he's very funny in the Mario vs Donkey Kong series, makes me wish he's a villain more than a protagonist)
3. Bowser (he's the best Mario Party antagonist, I prefer him that way than a playable character)
4. The Princess Shroobs (I love using Toad's juices as energy)
5. King K. Rool (overall great villain)
 
King Bob-omb (I love his voice acting and is big mustache.)
King Boo (Never really played any Luigi's Mansion games but I like him all the same.)
King Thwomp (We build your houses, your castles, we pave your roads, and still you walk all over us.)
Small/Big Cosmic Clone (Specifically the one from 3D land. Is he a creation of Bowser Jr. or some other force out to get Mario?)
Il Pianissimo (I wouldn't really call him a villain, but still, why does he wear a mask? What's he hiding? And that scene at the end of the game, very suspicious if you ask me.)

It's hard to place these guys in any particular order. But King Bob-omb is number 1 for me.
 
I don't really have a very fixed order and this has shifted around a bit over the years, but right now it'd be something like:

  1. Fawful
  2. Count Bleck
  3. Bowser
  4. Mimi
  5. Reclusa
 
All are great picks! I was thinking on put King K. Rool on my top, I really liked Mimi but with Dimentio, Bleck and Mr. L in the same game she gets eclipsed in my opinion, King Bob-omb brings me a lot of nostalgia and I associate him with Mario Party, I also like Antasma and his rivalry with Mario and now I LOVE Bowser Jr. after seeing The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
 
* Bowser: All around cool design and always does something memorable.
* King Boo: The only villain to consistently defeat Mario, making him the most dangerous villain.
* Count Bleck: A nice look into a tragic villain over the normal power hungry egotistical type.
* Wario: Always did like the evil version of the hero type of villains.
* Snowmads: Interesting concept. Their viking theme proves their no pushovers and were successful in the past.

the top 3 could go either way they're all extremely close, and the bottom 2 shift around a lot too with others like cackletta being in the mix too, i'm way too indecisive to make a definitive top 5 without any ambiguity to the order or who's in the last few places.
 
  1. Wario. I don't *like* being this character nor do I like him as a character but he's great as a villain and I like when he's a cocky, arrogant, short-tempered, scheming, rude loser and it's MUCH better when he gets what he deserves. I don't feel that great forcing Bowser to lose in Mario Party (probably because Bowser isn't relishing in being crude, even if Bowser and Wario share many traits together) or Mario Kart but getting Wario to lose badly is always really satisfying. Wario has a hilarious voice too!. Wario also tends to have pretty over the top animations for losing too, which helps!
  2. Waluigi. mostly for the same reasons as Wario but I don't consider Waluigi crude. He's also a comic relief loser who thinks highly of himself and is just as petty. Same with Wario, he has comical over-the-top animations, a hilarious voice, a really funny appearance. I'd love to see Wario and Waluigi star as main villains in some game some day. It was really fun seeing what they try to do in Mario Tennis, Mario Baseball, Mario & Sonic, and Mario Golf!
  3. Donkey Kong. Mario vs. Donkey Kong games prove that this guy is also really hilarious as a villain to bonk on and defeat. Again, he looks hilarious (the tie is great, lol). He's not canonically a *bad guy* compared to the other villains here, but he's still a fun antagonist for his oafish demeanor and short-tempered personality.
  4. Bowser. He's just a dependable all-around villain that works in pretty much all scenarios that involve a bad guy. He's definitely Just There in most games. I sometimes forget he's Mario's villain (cue me always forgetting he's not even playable in Super Mario Strikers until he spawns on the field). He's at his best in Mario Party when he's an NPC and has that imposing presence with his Bowser Spaces or other chaotic events.
  5. King Boo. If the Luigi's Mansion games keep coming, he's gotta be the villain lol. Same for Bowser being the villain for most Mario games. That being said, he overlaps a lot with Bowser and Wario in terms of being greedy, arrogant, boastful, power hungry, so he doesn't stand out that much to me barring being basically the Bowser of Luigi's Mansion games.
Honorable mention: Legion of Stationery. They're all great. I love how we finally got scissors as a Paper Mario villain, and he's a really creepy, threatening one too. Hole Punch has a killer theme also.

Koopa Kid also. RIP. Even if you were just plain ol' redundant with Bowser Jr. for the most part.
