Hello and welcome to Guess the Results! After an absence of six years, we're excited to finally return this speculative game to the yearly celebration.
How does this work?
Guess the Results is a game in which you try to correctly predict the outcome of the awards. To participate, you simply post your guesses for the top three places for each award in this thread. You can tweak your guesses up until the Awards Ceremony if you change your mind. You can participate regardless of whether you voted or not, and also if you are presenting any awards yourself. In the latter case, you must put our your guesses for those awards before you receive the results of them. You may do this in a separate post if you want to lock these in before submitting your guesses for the rest of the awards, which also makes it easier for us to track which guesses were submitted or edited when.
This event only covers the Mario and Fail awards; the Community awards are out of scope.
How are guesses scored?
The scoring system is the same as it was seven years ago. You can earn up to 15 points for each award you submit guesses for, depending on your guesses and the final results:- Exacta: you get full points for a guess in a correct top 3 placement
- Gold: 5 points
- Silver: 3 points
- Bronze: 2 points
- Any spot: you get 1 point for a guess that is in the top 3, but at a different rank
- Trifecta: correctly guessing all three positions nets you an additional 5 points as a bonus
For awards you present and didn't put guesses in for ahead of time, you'll get an automatic 5 points.
Assuming a top 3 of A, B, and C:
- C, B, D
- 1 point for C, as it is in the top 3 in a different spot
- 3 points for B, for a silver exacta
- 0 points for D, not in the top 3
- Total: 4 points
- C, D, A
- 1 point for C and 1 point for A, different spots
- 0 points for D, not in the top 3
- Total: 2 points
- A, E, F
- 5 points for A, gold exacta
- 0 points for E and F, not in the top 3
- Total: 5 points
- C, E, F
- 1 point for C, different spot
- 0 points for E and F, not in the top 3
- Total: 1 point
- D, B, C
- 0 points for D, not in the top 3
- 3 points for B, silver exacta
- 2 points for C, bronze exacta
- Total: 5 points (despite being very close to a trifecta)
- C, A, B
- 1 point for C, 1 point for A, and 1 point for B, different spots
- Total: 3 points (even though the full top 3 is there)
- B, A, C
- 1 point for B, 1 point for A
- 2 points for C, bronze exacta
- Total: 4 points
