Hi, all. We'd like to give you an update on where this project stands. We committed ourselves to making a final decision on MBMB3's status and communicating that decision to all of you in early October, and here we are.
Throughout 2026 and late 2025, we've had a number of projects to which we've given a share of our time and attention, both within the community and in real life. Progress on MBMB3 has been halting as a result. During spring and summer, Awards were our highest priority, and MBMB3 was largely left on the backburner. We made a plan to tentatively return to the project after Awards had passed, taking September to reorient ourselves towards it and to reassess where we stood.
September having passed, we've assessed our progress, considered what's coming up that might be an obstacle, and deliberated. This is a difficult choice for many reasons, not the least of which because we genuinely enjoy the many wonderful submissions you gave us and the effort put into your votes, but we've deemed it best to cancel MBMB3 rather than to leave the project on pause. It is, unfortunately, not currently sustainable for us, and we also do not want to leave any of you without closure indefinitely.
To all of you, we offer our apologies. While we cannot offer the full narrative, we would like to at least share the placements your characters rolled, and our outline of KOs. We also offer what character placement artwork we had completed. In the final placements spoiler tag, you'll discover the identity of the Mystery Brawler.

Explainer (Big Wheel) - In an early fight with the 'Shroom writers when Pyro summons a BMX, Big Wheel uses his lore note power to recast the Explainer as having been hired to explain the stat summary posts rather than fight.
Panimajesh (Miraidon) - Zapped by Miraidon while warning Zalsarona & Cassia of an infiltrator sneaking into the kitchen
Sandwich Bandits (LeyDee & Kuene) - KO'd together by a kick from Kuene and a punch from Leydee after a fracas in the market-turned-food-district
Big Wheel (Frouge) - Crushed by Frogue in a drivers' scuffle
Momoyo Himemushi (TriAnt & Bar D. Jokue) - After assuming her giant centipede form, TriAnt suplexes her with his tremendous strength. Bar D. Jokue, chasing after Cosmo around the same time, then whacks her on the head when Cosmo briefly lands atop her.
Kuene (Ultimate Lasagna) - The Ultimate Lasagna takes advantage of Kuene's injuries from the fight with the Sandwich Bandits to bite and smother her into a KO
Lasagna Cat & Ultimate Lasagna (Cassia & Zalsarona) - Cassia and Zalsarona jointly discipline the pair of troublemakers when they target the food district in the aftermath of the Sandwich Bandits fighting.
Evangeline (Mr. Nintenna) - Evangeline gets trapped in a minigame and loses
Blue Tango (SPC-TR) - SPC-TR uses its esoteric alignment with electronics to physically pull Blue Tango from the screen, then uses its magic to finish him off
LeyDee (Pyro) - Pyro and Kroop overwhelm the relatively grounded LeyDee with antilogical nonsense
Kroop (Charmy Bee) - Charmy catches Kroop with her ring tether, pulling him to her. She uses an item from Momoyo's shop to extinguish him, and gets the KO via spin dash.
Bar D. Jokue (Cosmo Neko) - Cosmo gets the better of his archnemesis after a comical chase through the early fights, tripping him up before using his power to fling him away
Apostle (Roland) - Roland shoots down the Apostle, drawing upon his past experiences with Liturgic entities
Roland (Ratastrophe & Tumble) - After vanquishing the Apostle, Roland returns his attention to the Ratastrophe, only for Tumble to intervene and use his possibility manipulations to turn the tide against Roland
Charmy Bee (Izumi Konata) - Konata renders him lethargic with smoke bombs, then slices him
Frouge (Jeff Gordon) - Get into a race against each other, with Gordon running Frogue off the road
Pyro (Vector) - Vector finishes off a lone Pyro to complete Charmy's goal of taking down the group
Cosmo Neko (Linq) - Linq gets heated by Cosmo deeming him to be a "small opponent" and proves too fiery for the cat
Dr. Tumble (Lucky) - Though able to manipulate outcomes within a certain possibility space, Tumble's efforts are constantly frustrated by Lucky's improbable luck saving him. Lucky gains an advantage and exploits a highly remote possibility to KO Tumble.
SPC-TR (Ernest Borgnine) - SPC-TR infects Borgnine's phone while he's advertising his personal app, Borgnine deletes the SPC-TR in an attempt to remove the malware
Ernest Borgnine (Double Agents) - The Double Agents draw Borgnine a boat and he sails away in peace
TriAnt (Cashier van Zieks) - van Zieks lures TriAnt in with exposed food, then crushes him underfoot because the health inspector would throw a fit if he found ants in the product
Jeff Gordon (Cave Hermit) - Forced to exit his damaged car after the tussle with Frogue, he gets into a fight with Cave Hermit, who leads the inexperienced on-foot navigator right into a trap
Agent Red (Agents of Logic) - The Agents of Absolute and Uncreative Logic use their magic nullification and own extensive training to neutralize Red's advantages and get the takedown in a fair fight
Mr. Nintenna (Big Blasting Bowser) - Big Blasting Bowser blows him up for attempting to his his own minigame that interrupts and ruins Bowser's Big Blast
Agent Blue (Siy Shilen) - A magic pencil duel ensues, with Siy's unbounded creativity giving her an advantage as one of her creations harbors a secret power that Agent Blue, distracted by missions of a grander scale, fails to identify
Izumi Konata (Polly & Specture) - Gets into a fight with Boo's alliance since she's trained in fighting supernatural entities. Polly distracts her by discussing anime, giving Specture an opening to cut her down.
Specture Striker (Arizona Ranger) - Arizona Ranger identifies Specture as Skeleton Red because of his red eyes. He joins Konata in the fight against the Boo alliance, taking Specture out after Konata falls.
Agents of Logic (Gus Odean) - Beaten down by Gus in a straight-Brawl, since he's tough and magically unaligned. They can't get an advantage because they can't disrupt his usual tactics.
Arizona Ranger (Not Shane) - Not Shane and Arizona Ranger get into a standard cowboy duel and Not Shane wins
Cassia (Stella Dubois) - Stella frustrates and exhausts Cassia in an extended fight (get clowned on), then strikes her with the dynamallet when she's dropped her guard because she's worked up
Cave Hermit (Bamonstard) - His stealth-and-traps approach fail against the Bamonstard, which takes the brute force approach of razing the forest to get him
Lucky (Phenera) - Lucky's improbable good luck collides with Phenera's random traits. While he has the upper hand for most of their fighting, the routine shuffling of her traits eventually nets her the advantage.
Polly (Cream & Cinnamoroll) - Cream and Cinnamoroll use their food to distract Polly so they can isolate her from Boo and attack
Big Blasting Bowser (Emperor Zurg) - Zurg identifies Big Blasting Bowser as a major threat & rival, forcing him into a battle of giants and prevailing with his mech
Boo1268 (Duke Mulberry) - An isolated Boo gets drawn into a gentleman's showdown with fellow upper-crust Duke Mulberry, with Mulberry's defenses allowing him to tire Boo out
Ratastrophe (DxHustler) - Succumbs to Hustler's spear
Cinnamoroll (Marcia) - Marcia uses a laser on the food van, causing Cinnamoroll to crash
Emperor Zurg (Buggy D. Veloper) - Post-Bowser fight, Buggy D. Veloper offers to repair and improve Zurg's damaged mech. This backfires spectacularly for Zurg.
Zalsarona (Subterranean) - Subterranean's exterior proves to be too hard for Zalsarona to penetrate, leaving her relatively powerless in the face of his Kanohi masks
Cream (Feathers McGraw & Mind Master) - The evil duo target Cream, with Mind Master controlling her mind so Feathers can finish her off
Mind Master (Schwarzwald & Feathers McGraw) - McGraw betrays and leaves Mind Master, who faces off with Schwarzwald. Mind Master gets driven to madness by linking psychically to Schwarzwald and being exposed to the truth
Duke Mulberry (Chef Krem & Katerers) - Trying to rebuild after the early food chaos, the Katerers defeat Duke Mulberry so they can get mulberry for a recipe
DxHustler (Commander Nebula) - Commander Nebula manages to shoot Hustler in the back of the head in a large alliance centered on her and Agent Andras
Feathers McGraw (Agent Andras) - McGraw tries to snatch BPI-1000 mask after Hustler's KO, but Agent Andras thwarts him.
Not Shane (Viola & Moss) - Comical KO when hit by a population bomb
Marcia (Scott the Woz) - One of Scott's friends gets summoned and takes Marcia out
Gus Odean (Speed Eraser) - A physically unstoppable force for much of the brawl. Meets Speed Eraser, who erases him, using BPV to buy enough time.
Phenera (Cypress) - Frozen by Cypress and shattered
Viola & Moss (Linq) - Linq initiates a premature explosion that captures them
Punished 30 Slime Cannon Bamonstard (Mashiro Kurata) - Masahiro cuts the monster down with her sword skills
Siy Shilen (Blooper Team) - Overwhelmed by Blooper Team, who use their ink to cover and smudge her drawings
Cashier van Zieks (Discovius) - Frustrated by Discovius' nature and loses in a direct confrontation
Speed Eraser (Agent Red) - A Lazarin'd Agent Red returns and uses physical force to subdue the eraser while it erases drawings
Blooper Team (Schwarzwald) - Schwarzwald's water warp allows him to get a drop on remaining Bloopers. General plan to spread out some team KOs to Ange, Discovius, Pibblun, and/or Dodo between other fights
Scott the Woz (Dodo) - Dodo targets him as he's the most typical, normal human left in the competition at this point.
Resurrected Marcia (Pibblun) - revived when Scott sacrifices a Target employee's shirt. Gets taken out by Pibblun around the same time as Scott.
Stella Dubois (Nyarlathotep) - Nyarly overwrites her Command Block at a crucial moment.
Mashiro Kurata (Edith) - Her sword skills fail to measure up to Edith's much more hardened combat training.
Commander Nebula (Subterranean) - With a well-known bounty on her own head, Nebula becomes the next target for Subterranean, who is able to use his expertise to foresee her strategies
Vector (Schwarzwald) - Full-bodied fight between two big guys that ends in a mutual KO

Nyarlathotep (Dodo & Agent Andras) - A fierce fight sees Nyarlathotep injured by Dodo's final gambit, allowing Agent Andras to finish him off
Ange Lackey (Pibblun & Blue Bubblo) - Slime bubbles hard counter the spiked ball of Ange
Chef Krem & Katerers (Jessica) - Katerers target her for her pumpkin head, the final ingredient needed for their final recipe, but her artillery proves too capable
Buggy D. Veloper (Agent Andras) - Allies himself with Nyarly after Zurg falls, in more of a tagalong kind of way. He tries to escape after Nyarly falls, but Andras hunts him down to tie up loose ends
Agent Andras (Pibblun & Blue Bubblo) - Andras fails to defeat Pibblun and Blue Bubblo, who take advantage of his exhaustion after multiple tough fights and chases to capture him in a bubble, just like he would capture others in his pods
Jessica Brynley (Edith) - As the final four size each other up, Edith goes after Jessica and Cypress goes after Pibblun and Blue Bubblo, finding mutual respect for each other as ruthless fighters
Pibblun & Blue Bubblo (Cypress) - The two of them succeed in taking out their opponents and setting up for a final duel. Cypress uses his ice abilities to subdue the Ditto slime and bubbles coming his way
Edith (Cypress) - Big climactic showdown which would've involved an avalanche and charging down the mountain after each other. At the bottom, Cypress helps Edith and then strikes her down while her defense is low

Jessica Brynley (Edith) - As the final four size each other up, Edith goes after Jessica and Cypress goes after Pibblun and Blue Bubblo, finding mutual respect for each other as ruthless fighters
Pibblun & Blue Bubblo (Cypress) - The two of them succeed in taking out their opponents and setting up for a final duel. Cypress uses his ice abilities to subdue the Ditto slime and bubbles coming his way
Edith (Cypress) - Big climactic showdown which would've involved an avalanche and charging down the mountain after each other. At the bottom, Cypress helps Edith and then strikes her down while her defense is low
