Why does Yoshi look like that in Wonder

Everytime I look at him I feel... disturbed. This is not the Yoshi I know. What did they do to him.

I like this version just fine. Though it's not my favorite, it's still better than his Wonder iteration. I don't see how this is more similar to his design in Wonder compared to the GCN redesign.

Slimmer body and half lidded eyes, if you look at them side by side you'll notice it

One of my issues with Wonder's Yoshi is I don't like how far his eyelids are protruding away from his eyeballs. This was a thing before Wonder but it's more pronounced than ever, and it just looks uncanny.

Maybe once I play Wonder my opinion will change but yeah not a fan.
