Why does Yoshi look like that in Wonder

Everytime I look at him I feel... disturbed. This is not the Yoshi I know. What did they do to him.

I like this version just fine. Though it's not my favorite, it's still better than his Wonder iteration. I don't see how this is more similar to his design in Wonder compared to the GCN redesign.

Slimmer body and half lidded eyes, if you look at them side by side you'll notice it

One of my issues with Wonder's Yoshi is I don't like how far his eyelids are protruding away from his eyeballs. This was a thing before Wonder but it's more pronounced than ever, and it just looks uncanny.

Maybe once I play Wonder my opinion will change but yeah not a fan.

Yeah I really don't like it. Some characters are just not meant to be drawn that way. Nintendo usually avoids having Yoshi at that angle whenever they can.

You can actually do this in (Super?) Scribblenauts, just stacking arbitrarily many rideable things on each other.

Anyway, I guess I should have checked the recent threads before creating this one, now I'm worried it feels a bit redundant ^^;

I would say yeah he can see, because his eyes go above it (the nose). But you can't see as much of his face that way. I just think from the side you can see much more of his head. Like you can see the nose, and his eyes and his cheeks and stuff, and his mouth, too.

Another reason why front-facing Yoshi sucks is that you can't see his mouth. That's one of the ways Yoshi expresses himself. But you can't see it when he's facing forwards so he looks so soulless.
