The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (Spring 2026)

Yeah people are treating this movie like it marks a list of playable characters like a video game than anything actually meaningful. I don't think anyone is taking away Mouser's 1 second cameo here. Nobody's talking about the crappy script and how much of a missed potential it is to tell something meaningful.

I don't care if it's Mario, Sawada inserted a bit regarding needing to still be funny while his father is undergoing cancer in that gag comic Super Mario-kun that otherwise has a lot of butts and farting.

they didn't include particular characters, or that they didn't include enough Mario characters. This movie is a jumble of Easter Eggs from various points of the Mario franchise.

Depends on the cases. If it's a very vital setting that directly refers to a main event or main character introduction, that is way above "easter egg" level and should be properly done. I think it's appliable to the main cast from the main series, or Galaxy characters who're very vital to the story.

Such as, you're not supposed to randomly introduce your father as a guest in your wedding. If you love him, just give him a big speech. If you hate him, just don't send an invite at all.
Or could rather say Nintendo is doing a hate/indifference job when they're mistreating a character or a setting, rather than considering everyone an easter egg. Rosalina and BJr are absoultely not easter eggs here.
