To commemorate Yoichi Kotabe's work in animation and video games, an exhibition is open at the Shiinoki Cultural Complex in Kanazawa, Japan, until December 6, 2020. Entry is free.

As some of you may know, Kotabe was instrumental in modernizing the looks of the main Mario cast and acted as an illustrator, animator and art supervisor for many Nintendo games until he left the company in 2006. His career began in the '60s at Toei Animation, where he collaborated with animator Hayao Miyazaki and animation director Izao Takahata on several projects, including Takahata's The Great Adventure of Horus, Prince of the Sun. That's at least according to the Cartoon Brew article linked above, and Wikipedia.

If anyone swings by the exhibition, tell Mr. Kotabe I said hi.
