The Scottish band Alestorm, famous for their rummages in the "pirate metal" genre, have released a new album called Curse of the Crystal Coconut.

Apart from the title being an obvious callback to the Crystal Coconuts from the Donkey Kong franchise, the album also features a cover of one of the songs from the Donkey Kong Country cartoon, "Pirate Scorn"!

Below is the cover superimposed on its corresponding scene from the cartoon. Enjoy!

Not to mention that the album's poster is a trove of Donkey Kong references.

They probably did license it for the album so I'm sure they'll be fine.

Not the first time they covered another person's song, they did a cover of "You are a pirate" from Lazy Town a few years ago.

Question, How long before Nintendo sues them to the ground?
Can we just enjoy something without these tiresome comments that keep cropping up whenever someone tries to share something that isn't directly licensed? In this case, it is apparently licensed, but still.

Yeah, it's said in the OP, it's a cover. Why not give it a listen?
