Wouldn’t it have been so much cooler if instead of going the “spirit possesses playable characters that look or can be made up to look the most like the spirit it represents if they had just had the characters show up and fight instead instead (like they did with Dracula for example in Classic Mode).

But there's 1297 spirits so it'd be hell to program them all so why do that when you can expand on other things?

I would imagine it would be cooler but as long as humans develop the game and not Mecha cyborg Master Hands, this is part of Smashtansy.

But maybe mods can do something about it in the future, to an extent....

Well, the game lets you have 255 costume slots, technically, so that's very possible.

Gotta find someone to model, texture, rig, and animate the bastards though...

You will have to way to force load the spirit battle into the desired costume slot, as spirit battles do use different alts.
