Hey. I am new here at the Mario Boards and I have a Mario Wiki account. Now, Mario Party has gone downhill, in the opinions of many fans. Now, if you dislike the new Mario Parties, what would you improve about the series? My personal idea would be to bring back the old concept of the boards, the Coins and Stars, not the Mini Stars. Although Mario Party 10 did this, you needed an amiibo to play that mode. I'm talking in the ORIGINAL Mario Party mode. Tell me what you all think and comment what you would like to see improved about Mario Party. I will see youall in my next thread.
First step of course would be bringing back the traditional Mario Party gameplay as that's a must But other then that...
1. Bring back at least some past boards of the series and revamp them a bit to be like some of the later Gamecube iterations of the series. (Kinda like how MK8 and MK7 revamped past courses to allow for some of the nuances of the new games like driving underwater and the glider
2. Bring back bonus stars to only Minigame, Coin, and Happening
3. MP2-like Costumes. Though not forced and specific to one board. They can be costumes you simply unlock by beating that board with that character or some other way. And then if you really like a costume, you can select to use that character in that costume on any map or any mini-game in the case of Mini-Game mode.
4. The return of the item system of Mario Party 3. For the exception of the Game Guy coin
5. No Hidden blocks. Or if there must be, only coins like in Mario Party 5
6. Just so people who are fans of the MP9 and MP10 board gameplay aren't entirely alienated, have it as a separate mode. The mode with the car is plenty short enough for that.
7. Bring back and revamp beloved Mini-Games of past games. I'm sure any Mario Party fan would love a more recent re-make of games like Bobsled Run, Bumper Balls, etc.
There might be more. But off the top off my head this would be a near perfect way of winning back people to the Mario Party series that aren't impressed with MP9 and/or 10. And #6 would let people who aren't as upset about the gameplay to still enjoy their way of Mario Party
1. Get rid of the car and return the older system. That car is probably the biggest, but only reason I hate Mario Party 9 and 10. If anyone likes it, it should be an extra, side mode but not the main mode.
2. Have retro mini-games, in a similar vein to Mario Kart games. Bonus points if characters are still disembodied heads attached to vehicles or animals (that one Penguin minigame being my favorite example)
3. Have Baby Mario and Baby Luigi playable for the love of god.
4. Have collectables and cameos that reference the older Mario Parties, a bit like how Kirby has recently referenced his older games via Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot.
-Return to the original format
-Give it more of a board game aesthetic (the intro shows a game box opening up, the character select screen shows characters as game pieces that come to life, etc.)
-How about a board based on the Donkey Kong Country games?
-And for that matter, a Wario Board would also be welcome.
The characters would be as follows:
Mario
Luigi
Peach
Yoshi
Wario
Donkey Kong
Daisy
Waluigi
Toad
Boo
Toadette
What would probably be a good start is roster adjustments, especially for the solo mode.
Characters in this category are treated as the good guys, and are your only playable options in solo mode. If either of the following characters finish in 1st place, you'll advance to the next board, no matter how poorly you play.
Mario
Luigi
Peach
Daisy
Wario
Waluigi
Rosalina
Yoshi
Birdo
Toad
Toadette
Donkey Kong
Diddy Kong
Dixie Kong
Characters in this category are treated as the villains, and are not playable at all in solo mode; they are playable in party mode only. If either of the following characters finish in 1st place, you'll have to retry the current board all over again.
Bowser
Bowser Jr.
Larry Koopa
Morton Koopa Jr.
Wendy O. Koopa
Iggy Koopa
Roy Koopa
Lemmy Koopa
Ludwig von Koopa
Kamek
Hammer Bro
Boom Boom
Pom Pom
Dry Bowser
In regards to how solo mode would operate, there would be 8 boards that you'd have to play, and the opponents can change as you advance. For an example...
Board 1: You & 2 Mario's Crew members vs. Lemmy Koopa
Board 2: You & 2 Mario's Crew members vs. Morton Koopa Jr.
Board 3: You & 2 Mario's Crew members vs. Larry Koopa
Board 4: You & 2 Mario's Crew members vs. Iggy Koopa
Board 5: You & 1 Mario's Crew member vs. Wendy O. Koopa & Pom Pom
Board 6: You & 1 Mario's Crew member vs. Roy Koopa & Boom Boom
Board 7: You & 1 Mario's Crew member vs. Ludwig von Koopa & Hammer Bro
Board 8: You vs. Bowser, Bowser Jr., & Kamek
Each member of Bowser's Crew is fought against once, with the exception of Dry Bowser, where he serves as the final boss for board 8; he starts out as a Bowser Imposter, appearing at all the Bowser Spaces, and the first half of the final boss minigame. However, completing solo mode for the first time will unlock Dry Bowser, who can be used in party mode.
