Mario is a good guy, yet you are against him in DK Jr, so he's an antagonist, same thing with the ducks.

The ducks are antagonists as much as the targets in Target Test are antagonists.

After a grueling trial, the ever-persistent Ness had used the environment and his innate powers to overcome the terror that the targets had done and stop their evil plans once and for all, for the most part. Only two targets remained, but one used a sneaky tactic to attempt to ensure victory. "Ha, not even your PK Thunder can get through this gap.", he said, taunting Ness with his seeming invincibility. Ness proceeded to meditate about what to do. Before even 20 seconds transpired, he realized a property of his PK Fire ability. If he hit the target right in front of him with it, the fire would fall and hit the apparently untouchable target. With only 30 seconds to succeed, Ness unleashed the blazing projectile while shouting, "PK FAY-AH!", and his plan worked exactly as he thought it would. With seconds to spare, Ness had achieved what the other 11 heroes couldn't; destroy the evil targets.
