Yes, Mario (who is NOT super which the box carefully reminds us) might be wearing red pants for no reason which saturation doesn't even match the hat, the shadows around the logo don't match the text at all, Mario might be suffering from excruciating pain holding up the very thorny "new", Mario might have acquired recently a very miffed pet Spiny that devoured the publisher's company (hence the logo cannot be displayed), Luigi's poorly cropped left armpit may be exposing the milky center of his delicious outsides, that mushroom might be creepily looming over Mario and watching every move you make, and Mario might be a dedicated time traveler since Brawl clearly came out way after the PS2 is considered the nostalgia console, but at least Yoshi's eyes are shielded from the jeering onlookers of this bootleg, and ESRB has been really thoughtful and tasteful censoring Yoshi's delicate areas.
And for whatever reason, I decided to trawl through the Internet to dig up... really weird stuff.
Mario's so excited for what's in those bags, his eyes shrunk. It's small, for Small Mario standards!
What's a better way to advertise things with a Mario spin than unsettling lighting, blank stares, the brothers being uncomfortably close to you, and Luigi's glassy eyes which is rumored to light up on its own every few seconds while no one is looking, and Mario which I'm not sure where the rest of the body is but hopefully it's just behind Luigi's arms. Hopefully.
Piranha Plant! After its recent surge in confidence due to its playability in Smash Bros., it discovered
Nipper Plant, who has a claim to fame before it, with its creepy, but intriguingly charming smile. This is Piranha Plant trying to take a selfie in hopes its grimace captures the hearts of many. Mario (and his pet spiny, don't forget that spiny) noticed this selfie and is trying to wave. Blue Toad just wants to remove that Mushroom on Yoshi's head so Yoshi can see properly. Luigi is horrified at Blue Toad's disembodied head, which he suspects the Piranha Plant to have eaten (and he just notices Mario's disembodied hand next to a pipe), so he's trying to alert Blue Toad by punching him on the head. But that's all just background noise.
Mario, making the extraordinarily convincing and completely perfect "will take care of turtles for pennies face". What's not to like, the derpy puppy eyes, the sad eyebrows, the blush, or the droppy false mustache?
And what happens if you don't give him your hard earned coins?
He gets fuzzy (or dizzy?) to the point his own eyeballs are slipping off his head.
