Unpopular opinions about the Super Smash Bros series.

I am sick and tired of line used by Shulk: "I'm really felling it", I get pissed off every time I hear this cheesy line. Used to like it but now it infuriates me.
I never liked it in the first place

Or Shulk... or any non-Mario character

I don't mind that most of the playable Pokemon are from Gen 1. The game is supposed to be a collection of Nintendo's all-stars. A lot of the most popular Pokemon are from the first generation. That's just the way it is.
I'd disagree and point to Shulk, Ice Climbers, Pit, Fire Emblem, and Ness when someone is arguing about "it's a game of Nintendo's All-Stars". I'd argue that it's more about Nintendo's history as a whole, and presenting one side of Pokemon, the earliest side, especially since Pokemon is divided by generation, kind of makes it feel lopsided. Every generation has its share of popular Pokemon, too, so it's not like they're horribly obscure either.

In fact, I'd support something like Huntail or Porygon2 being playable despite the obvious outcry because... well, it's more interesting that way, IMO.

You're a bit late on that one, buddy!

Anyway, I think that the four Gen. 1 Pokémon we have now should all stay in future installments. We have the mascot, one of the original 12, arguably the most well-known Gen. 1 Pokémon, and one of the first three starters (I would say Charizard should be replaced, but we have Greninja for Gen. 6 and Venusaur is just Venusaur). However, I think that's enough. I want to see more Pokémon from other generations. Lucario is notable enough to stay, and he represents the style from his time very well. Greninja is arguable. However, considering the fact that the next installment of Smash will likely hit around the eighth generation of Pokémon, he would fit the Lucario bill very nicely. I want the next Pokémon newcomer to be from either generation 7 or 8, like Lucario and Greninja beforehand. Unless we get two Pokémon newcomers (unlikely, but possible) I'd rather the new gen be repped with a good character that represents the era of Pokémon that installment of Smash passes by. Maybe it could be a Grass-type this time.
