There were six Pokémom reps in Brawl (counting transformations as separate characters). I doubt theat the number will go down in this game. Also, don't argue that Mario went down a rep in Brawl. Dr. Mario was a clone. All six Pokémon in Brawl were unique characters.

Mario is by far Nintendo's biggest franchise and series. It would make sense for Mario to have more than Pokemon.

On a more serious note, 6 is fine for Pokémon because in the games, you're allowed 6 on a team.
