Obviously such an important and iconic character as this deserves a year.

Well, we'll see what happens. Also, remember that this ISN'T in mindless junk. Though the "Year of _" fad would be really cool (iirc though, there might have been something like that already...).
 
If Nintendo should do a Mario zodiac or something so this whole Year of the (character) would actually be entertaining.
