I don't know if this was ever talked about but has anyone ever thought that Brawl was actually hinting to another Super Smash Bros. game?
Brawl had GCN Rainbow Road music and we now have 3DS Rainbow Road confirmed for the 3DS version
Ashley's theme was in Brawl and Ashley is now confirmed as an Assist Trophy
Brawl had an Animal Crossing stage and now 3DS/Wii U has Villager and Animal Crossing stages
Little Mac was an Assist Trophy and now we have a Boxing arena like stage in the Wii U version.
etc, etc.

Anyone have this feeling? Or well the creators at least took those unfitting elements (Rainbow Road music, Ashley's theme but no Ashley) and kind of added them into Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS
 
In my opinion Rainbow Road was a given considering it is probably one of the staples of the Mario Kart franchise. Animal Crossing is a large Nintendo franchise and so I'd assume that it would get a playable character. Ashley is also a major character in WarioWare so an Assist Trophy isn't too far a thought, though it does make me wonder why Kat & Ana in the previous one and if a new one is released whether Ashley will be in it. Little Mac, maybe it's because his franchise wasn't the largest, although there are the Ice Climbers. But it is an interesting idea.

I think those are all coincidences. I don't think it had anything to do with hints to the next game. It's as circumstantial as there being a Pikmin & Olimar trophy in Melee if you had Pikmin on your memory card hinting to him being playable in Brawl.
 
Highly coincidental if you asked me. Super Mario Galaxy never even had any references in Brawl, except for a mentioning on the Chronicle.
 
Talking about the Chronicle, I hope that feature doesn't return. It's a waste of time and space. I mean, I doubt everyone is interested in knowing the release dates of all Nintendo games.

I also hope that Masterpieces don't return.

Well I'm not the biggest Sonic fan in the world, or any fan for that matters. Extremely neutral with the franchise. I just wasn't really looking foreword for anymore third party characters.
