Obvious reference, but it makes me think just what the Phantom is in this screenshot? One of Zelda's moves? An item? An Assist Trophy? A stage element? Something else entirely?

Maybe the phantom could be a controllable figure for zelda (like a luma for rosalina)

I highly doubt that, especially when you consider the style differences and that Zelda seems to be merely posing rather than attacking.
