Shovel Knight

OK so first off, HYPE DELIVERED.

I'm about 6 or so bosses into it and it's pretty great so far. It plays like a melee-oriented Mega Man with a Catlevania approach to the subweapons. You don't get a new ability after beating a boss, though. You have to find it in each knight's stage. Gotta explore to find them.

Music is fantastic. Specter Knight is probably my favorite as of now.

This better come to Europe soon, I need this.
I thought that it was a worldwide release.

EDIT: Apparently not, what a bummer.

It's been a little bit of confusion, because the communication as far as when the EU version is coming out hasn't been totally clear. We sent out an email that said, "Surprise, your game is ready!" But unless you're in America it doesn't actually work for you.

So it's been a learning process just in how we set up expectations for backers. We are really sad that people have not been able to play the game, but for a long time we've said it's going to be delayed as far we need to finish the first release and then move on to the EU region.

That's our path and we're working on it as hard as we can to make that happen, but there's no word on that. There's no official release on that yet, but we'll let you guys know.

It will be soon, for sure. And right now the game is available on PC and Steam, so even though it's not on 3DS or Wii U you can play it on Steam and it works just as well. It's the same game, it just doesn't have the Miiverse or the StreetPass, but for the most part it's the same game[...]

Then eventually a worldwide release and moving on to other platforms

Not sure if that cleared anything up for ya but there it is.

Really late to the game here. I bought this game on my Wii U AND 3DS, beat the Wii U version about a month ago, freaking fantastic game all the way through. Great music, good level design, excellent game mechanics, wonderful and memorable character design, just all around a game to remember. In fact, dare I say, it's probably one of my new favorite games of all time!

Also, there's this article about how the game differs from the NES, which it clearly takes a lot of inspiration from:

And another article about game sales:

Regardless, if you haven't gotten this game yet, go get it now, it's worth it!

Five months, but it's finally happening.

Game is glorious so far (I've died over 40 times by now though), my favourite stage is Mole Knight's at the moment.

Surprisingly I've only had trouble with the first boss (wrecked me three times), though I'm not looking forward to doing Treasure Knight's stage as a whole from what I attempted of it.

And I think we can all agree Croaker is the best NPC.

Went on a binge today and beat Treasure, Mole, Plague and Propeller Knights.

How high can your mana go? I'd like to know because I want to know how much I'll be able to use the punch, propeller dash, and flame orbs.

Oh, and the gray armor (gain a charge with two or more successive bounces) is waaay more useful than it sounds.

100. Higher with the purple armor.

That's pretty much the only one I ever use.

Huh, expected it to maybe be 999 or something. I've got 60 mana currently.

I'd really like to buy the red armor but I don't want to lose the benefits of the charge shot, and I'm thinking that when I get more money I'll try the black armor.

I died 130 times (man I suck, 23 of them were on the final boss), but I just beat the game today.

Anyone know how to check where you've missed music notes?

And does anyone know where you get the Relic that's on the top right box of the left section? I've managed to miss it.

150 with the purple armour.

Yeah I got the red one at first because I didn't have the charge attack yet and thought it wouldn't work as a result, but once I got the charge attack and the silver armour I never switched it out.

It's in Plague Knight's stage, after the section with the spiky barrels, you'll come to a hole in front of a wall you're supposed to drop down. You can go over that wall to find the Alchemy Coin, which imo, is the best sub-weapon in the game.

Picked it up last night so thanks, though I'm surprised I missed it because that's not really too hidden.

eh, i mean, maybe yacht club games will get even MORE exposure out of this, considering that the PS4 is best selling console so far this gen, (?) and it's going to PS3 and vita too

i can see why they did it, but it seems kinda unfitting
