I was checking Snifit's page in the mariowiki the Japanese name in the 'Name in other languages' section was "Mucho". What does it even mean?

It's probably a meaningless Japanese name. Maybe. Someone should look it up in a translating machine or something

Mucho (無著) means, "No Author", as far as I can see.
I guess 2257 or Garlic should confirm it better.

I know Lakitu, but how many names have an additional 「ー」 in Japan?
Just like Pikachu, which is originally 「ピカチュウ」, but it could have been 「ピカチュー」 as well, which both get romanized into "Pikachuu" (with 2 U's at the end).
Or a better example: Yoshi.
It's 「ヨッシー」 in Japanese, but when romanizing, it says, "Yosshii".
Japanese names are always based on something, as an additional note.

Well, the romanization of Yosshii is infact "Yossy", but I think one " シ" would have been sufficient.

"シ" = "Shi", not "sy".

When I romanize Petey Piranha's Japanese name, I always get something like "piranha of Petty".

I don't know what kind of Japanese you've learned then.

I learned from a wise old man by the name of "Google".

Don't you mean you got it from a crappy translator?

To romanize stuff, there's no need to a Translator.
To translate stuff, that's a different story.

For example:
ポケットモンスター ~ It's romanized as "Poketto Monsutaa", and translated as "Pocket Monsters", meaning "Pokémon".

You need to create a phonetic word, I guess.

Google translate about ポケットモンスター:
Phonetic: Pokettomonsutā (I guess you really romanize it as Poketto Monsutaa)
Translated: Pocket Monsters

So let randomize another Japanese word. *Randomizes wiki-page* Ah, got one.
ワリオシップ
Phonetic: Warioshippu (Wario Shippu)
Translated: Wario Ship (Wario_Shipyard)

The "Phonetic" feature of Google Translate isn't that bad, but it forgets Spaces regularly.
