Pikmin 3

Theory time!

I believe that White and Purple will be in it - as soon as in a video not that long ago - that they were in it, but I think they'll take one a role more like Bulbmin in Pikmin 2, where they appear in certain areas, but cannot be taken anywhere else in the game. That, or they just appear in challenge mode or something like that.

I really hope I'm wrong though, and they appear throughout the game. I think they should definitely power down the purple Pikmin a bit so that they aren't as omnipotent in battle.

To be fair, they didn't state the release date in the Nintendo Direct, they stated it in their press kit, which I didn't think of checking.

@BMB: I don't think they should power down the Purple Pikmin, just boost the HP of the enemies (except Wollywogs, fuck those) back to their Pikmin 1 standards.

Maybe not boost the Emperor Bulblax back to his Pikmin 1 health, but a little more health so he doesn't get killed before he has a chance to attack. Imagine if the the Pileated Snagret had as much health as a normal Snagret from the original game...

Yeah, I did like the harder enemies, but I think one of the main reasons why they powered down some enemies was because of the caves. I mean, if you could get more Pikmin in each cave, then it would be understandable to keep it the same, but some caves were hard because of the consecutive attacks of enemies on each floor, and it was very stressful because of it.

And I agree, Wollywogs in Pikmin 1 were just awful. I also completely hated the Pileated Snagret and any of the Snagret family. Those things are just annoying.

I really do like some of the new enemies though. They seem more promising.

What I really like about this game is the view. Now you won't be surprised as easily if an enemy comes at you from a certain angle and you aren't ready to attack it as well.

I hate wollywogs with a burning passion....

The Pink Pikmin are adorable, by the way.

And if you look at the footage, you can see not only pink pellets, but a shadow of an onion, which leads me to believe the Pinks have an onion as well. Maybe like, their onion can't list off the ground or something (along with Rocks) since they have a different colored leaf, or something like that.

And on the box art do you think that Pikmin in the jar looks red, but is just discolored since it's in a jar, or maybe.....

...orange?

I mean, there has to be at least one more pikmin type since they are hinting it with the 3 in the logo, and that one on the box might be orange or something since I did think that in some of the pink pikmin footage, in the distant I saw a pellet which looked, similar to orange at least, but it could have been red.

^That's a red Pikmin inside of the jar.

I think it'd be cool if they introduced another type of Pikmin, although seven different types (eight including Bulbmin) seems like enough. However, there is still a lot of potential for strategy.

The orange flowers on the logo are still peculiar, given the fact that the original logo wasn't orange in the beginning.

Also, it seemed like the Winged Pikmin were immune to being crushed while flying, at least that's what it looked like when the Wollywogs attempted to crush them.

Still no release date...

I hate the time limit and I hope it never appears in a Pikmin game ever again. I like that in Pikmin 2 you can just take your time and don't have to panic if you don't get something done on a certain day.

I also hope they keep the Piklopedia and the Treasure Collection. I like to look at Olimar's notes everytime I find new treasure and enemies.

Also, you know what would be cool? If you could actually go in the ship. I also would like if they allow multiple players to play in the story mode. At least 2, 3 or 4 would be a little much to fit onscreen.

Taking away the time limit took away a lot of the strategy involved in Pikmin 2, which is why Pikmin 1 is better.

I'm so happy they are adding it back in, or maybe at least an option to take it off if you wanted too.

I am kind of against the time limit.

I felt that Pikmin 1 just was rushed, and you really didn't enjoy the scenery very well. But yeah, Pikmin 2 was a lot laid back and you didn't feel that need to figure something out as fast as you possibly can and see how well you can do with a set amount of time.

However, I only took 29 days to beat Pikmin 2 on my first try, and I was being rather chillax about it. I mean, if Pikmin is going to be for all ages, then don't set a time limit. The time limit only hinders players that are slow or need a lot of time, or suck at multi-tasking. The removal of the time limit allowed for advanced players to get done like they would have normally while still having the newbies take more time at the game and taking a bit longer.

I think that Pikmin is a game that if you want to get good at you need strategy skills to do it. Instead of putting a time limit, put more puzzles that need to be solved. I mean, they are already doing that in Pikmin 3 with the bridge building and the throwable captains.
