Mario Tennis Open

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

Why does every character need a predetermined partner? Why can't computers have a randomized partner when playing doubles instead of their "default" partner?

I was thinking about that. That was one of the cons in Mario Tennis 64. You couldn't choose your own partner in the Doubles Tournaments. Good thing the Power sequel fixed that.

Oh, I remember that now. Still, there's no need for Flutter and Birdo if Nintendo's willing to bring Baby Mario back and include King Boo and Dry Bones.

The roster balance does need to be taken into account though.

I'm sure Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Toad, Toadette, King Boo, Dry Bones, and maybe King K. Rool and Kritter can be added to the roster while remaining balanced.

Speaking of balancing the roster, I want at least one more character in the All-Around category. I'm sick of Mario and Luigi being the only All-Around characters.

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

My idea for a roster

All-Around
Mario
Luigi
Toad
Toadette

(we need more all-around players)

Power
Bowser
Donkey Kong
Petey Piranha
King Boo
Wario

Defense
Waluigi
Wiggler
Rosalina

(meh, I thought the Defense needed more players)

Speed
Yoshi
Koopa Troopa
Baby Mario
Baby Luigi
Diddy Kong

Technique
Peach
Daisy
Shy Guy
Paratroopa

Tricky
Boo
Bowser Jr.
Fly Guy
Dry Bones

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

I'm also sick of seeing female characters in the "Technique" category. It's like a very rigid label.

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

That's one of the reasons I put Rosalina under defense

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

Here's my roster.

All Around
Mario
Luigi
Dry Bones
Kritter
Toad

Technique
Peach
Daisy
Shy Guy
Paratroopa
Waluigi

Speed
Yoshi
Baby Mario
Baby Luigi
Diddy Kong
Koopa Troopa
Toadette

Power
Bowser
DK
Wario
Petey Piranha
King Boo

Defense
Wiggler

Tricky
Boo
Bowser Jr.
Fly Guy

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

If Toad is all-around, he should trade reach for either technique or speed

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

If you look back at my roster input, I had 5 players per category. But again, the roster is more for if a Mario Tennis is made for the Wii U, but some of the characters could be utilized in the 3DS game.

I was doing some brainstorming earlier today, and I had the following Mario Tennis roster in my head. Of course, I was thinking more about if a Mario Tennis was made for the Wii U.

All-Around
Mario
Luigi
Yoshi
Birdo
Tiny Kong

Technique
Peach
Daisy
Toad
Shy Guy
Kalypso

Speedy
Koopa Troopa
Diddy Kong
Bowser Jr.
Dixie Kong
Toadette

Power
Wario
Donkey Kong
Bowser
King K. Rool
Kritter

Tricky
Boo
Fly Guy
Koopa Paratroopa
Dry Bones
Rosalina

Defense
Waluigi
Wiggler
Kopter
Coach
Blooper

Default Teams
Mario + Luigi
Peach + Daisy
Yoshi + Birdo
Wario + Waluigi
Toad + Toadette
Koopa Troopa + Koopa Paratroopa
Donkey Kong + Diddy Kong
Bowser + Bowser Jr.
Shy Guy + Fly Guy
Boo + Dry Bones
Tiny Kong + Dixie Kong
King K. Rool + Kritter
Kalypso + Kopter
Wiggler + Blooper
Rosalina + Coach

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

The only reason I disagree with that roster is that I really miss Baby Mario. He was the bomb.

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

I wonder why female characters never get Power.

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

The only character I see as Power is Daisy and even then, she looks quite speedy for a Power character

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

Characters don't have to be male, buff, and muscular to be power.

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

Maybe the do, but they don't have to be male. Imagine Baby Peach as a power character

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

That would be illogical, but interesting.

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

If that's possible, MAKE BABY LUIGI A POWER CHARACTER

A lot of them aren't heavy hitters. Birdo could count as a Power character, but its attributes are often more suited for the All-Around category, along with the fact that it's indeterminate gendered. Elder Princess Shroob might work, but RPG characters often don't appear outside of RPGs.

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

I can imagine Daisy being at least above-average in Power.

Well, based on my roster, I'd probably state that Kalypso would be the strongest Technique character, followed by Daisy, then Shy Guy, then Toad, and ending with Peach.

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

I think Toad would be stronger than Peach.

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

Baby Mario was very powerful for a Speed character in Mario Tennis N64

Yeah, wasn't Toad the strongest character in SMB2?
You mean the game that took place in a dream...yeah

Re: Mario Tennis 3DS

That dream could reflect on real life
