I saw an ad for Your Name on youtube, I actually watched it because I'm waiting for the blu-rays to come out so I can watch it in hq, because it can't be any other way. It looks way better than I was thinking, although like any trailer it shows off a little too much and I can take shots at what'll happen. I want to see why it's been so successful.

still not enough to drag me to melbourne to watch it though, I'm not that desperate yet.
i was invited out to a screening tonight with no expectations or knowledge of the film aside from it being an anime

i think im going to need about three years to recover from the emotional rollercoaster like shit i do not like emotional tension and this movie nearly did me in at the very end

without giving any spoilers i can really see why this has been so successful so i'd recommend it to people who can handle romance dramas

with giving spoilers:
at the onset i didnt know what i was getting into, the body swapping parts were incredibly well done and hilarious but with no real plot other than"oh shit isnt this situational as hell!"

but once that comet hits and the connection is severed, the film goes from 0 to 100 really fucking quick

the reveal that the town was destroyed 3 years prior was powerful, especially in that one particular scene where Taki is looking at the death records and he finds her friends' names, as well as the general hopelessness and confusion as he tries to restablish it

it became obvious that the endgame was now to save the town using this connection but the way that was accomplished was really roundabout and filled with tension

the aftermath being told in a recount 5 years later by a jaded Taki even more so

at least 10 minutes of the writers teasing whether Taki would ever know what he did or see Mitsuha again was a bit too much for me to handle even though you knew they were going to find each other in some way so bonus points for making me suspend my belief

The movie pulls lots of heavy strings and the story is powerful and yet really lighthearted and humorous in places so i can certainly understand why the movie has become so renowned even worldwide

imo, "strong as a fucking meteoric impact" out of 10

holy *bleep* this anime is crazy, it's like a saturday morning cartoon x10
so I finished the last episode today

If you've yet to watch this series, change that. This isn't just an anime, it's a freaking experience that must be seen to be believed. The animation is beautiful, the characters are great, the music is great, the action is absolutely fucking insane, and...well, I don't know what else to say without spoiling.

TTGL is honestly one of the shows to watch if you want to get into anime or if you're a beginner, and I'm really glad I watched this when I did.

A bunch of Fate news to start off the new year. Heaven's Feel is gonna be a 3 movie trilogy, Fate/Apocrypha is getting an adaptation, Fate/Extra is getting one very soon, Fate/Grand order had its first Ova come out I think? Lotsa stuff for me to enjoy next week.

Nows a good time to start before it gets any bigger. To keep it simple, watch Fate/Zero and/or Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works. You can decide on your own what to do after that. Zero is better IMO.

i just wanted to say the lwa tv series is incredible, i think its great that they started from the roots of akko and how she met lotte and sucy and got into luna nova
if you havent already seen the movies i suggest you go do so cause they are masterpieces

im honestly so upset that i have to wait 4 more days for the next ep but im trying to keep it together

Pokemon: Meh
Assassination Classroom: LIFE

I have not watched many anime shows, mostly because I am not too interested in anime. I like the art style, though, and I LOVE seeing it used (for good reasons, not NSFW reasons)

had someone recommend this to me recently, sounded...

...interesting

anyways i started watching mirai nikki and i know at least a few people here me include will try to beat me up now

Haven't heard of it, but judging from the title I assume it's a slice of life comedy about famous people who were assassinated, but they're in high school. Like Clone High.

No, it is about a lemonhead candy alien who blew up the moon to make it crescent eternity, and earth is next. But for some reason, he wants to teach or something. Then the stupid government assigns him to teach a bunch of high school kids to kill him, and it is cool and stuff. Main character is Nagisa and stuff, so watch it and stuff.
