This doesn't really belong in the anime thread but w/e

I started reading the Nisekoi Manga because I officially can't bear anymore not knowing how the story continues + apparently the second season of the anime omitted quite a bunch of content from the manga (I'm at chapter 13 or so and so far its pretty damn identical to the anime)

that was the episode where tsugumi appears, or rather the first part of it because it cuts off right when theyre starting to fight

I expect the first season to go until about chapter 60 or so (?) and after that will be mostly new content (I hope)

for the record, there's over 200 chapters so far and it's still ongoing. this will be a ride.

I just passed 50 which is where Season 1 ended

now let's see where the point is where the Season 2 just started becoming random OVA-tier stuff that didn't really have anything to do with the actual story

I finally reached the part of the nisekoi manga that wasn't covered in the anime anymore and good lord these developments

raku is hit by a baseball and subsequently is stroke with a severe case of amnesia which causes him to forget everything

this causes him to suddenly be nice to chitoge because he thinks shes his actual girlfriend and she cant handle the situation at all

marika is on suicide watch

onodera as well

and the only thing raku remembers details about seems to be the promise. everyone goes to onodera's house and they find the picture book from 10 years ago and shit happens

so far the only major new thing to be revealed though is that his promised girl apparently did not have blue eyes, which rules out chitoge

is this the end of rakuxchitoge? onodera hype? is marika about to go full yandere???

I couldn't really sleep tonight

I kept believing until the end (I got so happy when they've shown that Onodera was indeed the promise girl because at that point I thought it's been established that promised girl = winrar, but then I also realized that he really doesn't care for the promise anymore which has also been established, in one of the last onodera chapters nonetheless (oh my god i feel so bad for this girl like)), even though I realized in Season 1 that something along the lines of this is the only logical end by how Chitoge is being pushed.

This constant Onodera cockblock hurts infinite times more now because this all could've been prevented if she'd manned up and confessed before chapter 199

I get it that Raku said he started liking Chitoge around Chapter 50 but that numbnut wouldn't even have realized it until 200.

overall this didn't leave me in the dust as much as the ending of oreimo (just, dont watch that anime, please) because at least here the second best girl and only other acceptable ship won (because else there was just the lunatics who were shipping marika and then the other girls (Tsugumi, Haru), who never had a chance in the first place (even though haru wouldve been acceptable because of the hilarious NTR that ship wouldve been lol)).

At least Shuu got his fill. That guy was one of the only non-dense characters in the manga and I loved how he completely and utterly took pleasure out of the fact that everyone around him was acting like complete morons.

I also don't really like how Onodera didn't get any sort of resolve at all in the ending. I guess it's been established that she's happy for them and all but you can't tell me loving the same guy for 10 years and then getting rejected by him is not gonna leave some serious scars, especially with how she was acting all the time.

Now I'll wait until somebody writes a good onodera ending and I'll gladly accept that as my personal canon.

Note on Chitoge: I kinda felt bad for her at points too but I would've been absolutely fine if she was just the last barrier before rakuxonodera along the lines of "okay fine i get it now ill just give up" but then of course, that was never meant to happen.

I wonder if I'll ever find a work in the harem genre where the choice of girl I prefer wins (probably not).

so far ive only seen 2 and in the other one (oreimo), everyone lost and several girls were just left heartbroken with the mc acting like its absolutely no big deal

Onodera was the perfect waifu though and I think I'll need some time getting over this one (it's been months since I got done with Oreimo and I still sometimes moan about it to myself).

Sometimes I just want to stop being straight tbh
