  • This is something that GREATLY urks me
What my family thinks the Shroom is: a collection of people using me to produce free storys from my ideas without getting paid.
What the Shroom really is/how I see it: A collection of talented individuals sharing there storys and ideas while also being a creative outlet to test there writing skills.
Now I might be wrong in some aspects so correct me if I am.

From the perspective of one unfamiliar with the tight knit community that is the Super Mario Wiki and the passion project that is The 'Shroom like your family is, I can see a bit where they're coming from, but I wholeheartedly agree that The 'Shroom is anything but the way they envision it to be. Like you said, it's a creative outlet for talented and creative individuals to share their stories and ideas about the Mario franchise, as well as put their writing skills to the test. And as I said, The 'Shroom is a passion project by a community that has been around for twenty years and kept alive by so many dedicated volunteers and creative minds alike during that time. So for a passion project to have endured that long against all odds really speaks values much more than words ever could.

Well, yes, you should be wary to give out your hard work for free. You should not take your work lightly. However, you're technically not giving your work for free. I look at the Shroom as something that everyone gives a little bit to, so all of us can get something big in return. It's like if your family members each pitched in to do a small house chore so everyone can enjoy the benefits of a clean house. But, you should heavily pay attention to what your parents have to say because they want what's best for you.

I believe that the Super Mario Wiki has aided me in my general writing skills. I do not get paid to edit. The benefits of completing a task for others does not always come in the form of money. It comes in the form of experience, too — and, sometimes, it is enjoyable. In this case brought up by Boo1268, The 'Shroom is a passion project which volunteers can contribute to, proving that he is definitely not being used to write stories.
What goes up must come down, and today I have a very deep down, IE: Life is kinda hard rn, and I hope things are gonna get better....

Hey, you know what's something we should do? Revive old threads, like honestly they still have so much in terms of potential we should really care about them more!

All good, Boo, my boy! I know how busy life outside the internet can get!
Something I love about each deltaurne chapter is that you can slowly but surely see the progression of Toby's skills as each chapter is made, man just keeps raising the bar its basically through the roof.

Do you ever finish a task youve been wanting to get done, but find that once you do it your bored since you finished it and now you have nothing to do?

Well now Boo1268 got inspired by this and wants me to campaign in the awards AGAIN this year.
    DryBonesBandit2-4.png-1.png.png

Now honestly I still dont understand why, all I do is guard the Lich Yard each day, protecting it from outsiders who want to make trouble, while also dealing with unruly spirits, sure ive gone on lots of adventures, helped defeat a pure evil being, plus I also participated in a killing game, but even still people have done MUCH more impressive things than I have!

But...I know I cant stop you guys, so if you want to vote for me, but at the very least if you do, do it for Boo won't ya? He deserves it more than I do.

Not speaking in an official capacity here, just as a member of the community - I'm glad you're excited about the Community Awards, but I wouldn't consider doing something like this to be in good taste. It's one thing to campaign for a specific nominee in the Mario or Fail Awards, where the votes you might get from that are just a drop in the bucket and ultimately the final results don't really matter that much. It's another thing entirely to do it in the Community Awards where you're trying to push yourself/your creations ahead of other users and their works. I understand that may not actively be your intention, but in effect it's what's happening. There are many talented creators in this community and it's not fair to them if certain nominees are getting more votes because someone's actively trying to get people to vote for them, rather than just letting the quality of the work stand on its own. On the flipside, it's also worth considering that some people may be turned away by this approach and decide not to vote for something on principle because someone was asking for votes.

Well thats why im being modest, while I do want people to vote for him they dont have too, infact i recognize that some people dont want to vote for me, and thats fine, I expect him to get outvoted at the end of the day, if anything I would just be happy if he made it to fifth place.
Guys I was curious about how many OCS WT has made, I soon found myself down a rabbit hole and it turns out....WT has 149 Characters most of those being OCs. THE MAN IS A MADMAN
Edit: Update I have just confirmed by WT its 157 now.
I saw a Hooded Pitohui on my walk earlier today!
Do yall ever feel like your the only one putting effort into reviving an ask thread? Cause thats what it feels like for me sometimes, like in not trying to make other people feel bad about it, im just saying it feels that way sometimes.

To be upfront with you, if you're feeling that way, maybe it's because the other person doesn't have interest anymore? And if that's the case, then there's no need to continue returning to it. People will return to threads like that to post in them if they're interested, and if they aren't, there's nothing you can really do about it. Probably better to be hands off instead of continuing to poke at them.

Fresh out of responding questions: I'm going to speak for myself but it's just a lot of effort writing responses. I'm quite a busy person, and today just so happened to be my day off and I'm like, you know what, maybe I can work through the backlog.

I still love receiving questions in my ask thread, though! Just because I didn't get around to it doesn't mean I have ignored it, so continue to ask away if you want!
