Rabbids Go Home pokes precisely at so many niche yet satisfying sensory points it's almost unbelievable. The rabbids are these doughy mammals I can paint and morph to my will within their Wii Remote apartment. I can break and rustle my environment to collect the tokens I powered out. A lot of getting sucked in and blasted out, the collection of food items and living critters, stuff I can't really articulate. The geometric and flat visual design of the 3D dimensional playsets, the bwahs and brass band rampaging the soundscape, pressing and letting go of that clicky A button while my thumb rotates the circle pad against the hard edges of the nun-chuck..... It's so loud but it's legible because of the chunkiness and segmentation so every hit is satisfying.
The widespread use of night, urban, and corporate imagery gives it a very personal feeling. I mean a part of it is the Rabbids being childhood characters, watching the cartoon and let's plays of the Wii games. Still, beyond surface level nostalgia, the settings they go through in the Wii era evoke a lot of my early childhood environments.
