    Welp, August just started less than 10 minutes ago. I can't believe how quickly 2024 is flying by, before you know it we'll be halfway through the decade. At least I still have a month and a bit of summer holidays left, I intend to make it count.

    Let's go I just did LSJ for the first time ever after! (edit: LSJ stands for Life Shroom Jump, a frame-perfect glitch that lets you Flip, and subsequently jump, if you revive with a Life Shroom in midair, in this case after dying to the 3d meter whilst jumping across the gap that normally requires the green bridge)

    By skipping Thoreau you unlock him after beating the level and even activate a special message that normally isn't possible to see in normal gameplay!

    Translation: In a basement in Steinaltstadt (Yold Town) waiting, this Pixl has heard of your adventures. Wurfowitz (Thoreau), the throwing Pixl, is now your friend!.

    Since you weren't here in 2022 and prior, it's been a running theme on my Marioboards account since I joined that every June I theme as Sweetie Belle, the only time I've broken this was last year because of my 1 year streak of Ever After High themes, so I themed as Lizzie Hearts in June 2023, but since that streak is now over I'm bringing back Sweetie Belle this June

    Hey folks, I'm afraid that my second uncle [my maternal grandfather's sororal nephew] died today... I wasn't close to him at all so it hasn't affected me much myself, but I feel so sorry for my second cousin because she'd be about 13 or 14 now, and her dad's death was really sudden and out of nowhere - a heart attack with no underlying health conditions. It's honestly terrifying to have that happen to someone in my family, and to know that something like that could happen to someone closer to me, even healthy people, so suddenly.

    Same thing in the Netherlands. There were Northern Lights over here too, but I wasn't aware, so I missed it too.

    It was like that near the east end of my city as well, close to a small town named Echo Bay. I was in bed by the time most people saw it, and I don't think my parents or siblings saw it either.

    I was really into Astronomy as a kid so it's always been my lifelong dream to see a TSE

    There was a partial one in the U.K. when I was 12 and I literally skipped school to see it, but it was totally cloudy 😭

    The next total solar eclipse in the UK isn't until 2090 so my options are travel to another country to see one, or live to 87.

    Trust me, as someone who has been banned from the Mario Boards in the past, it's not a fun experience. I don't know how lucky I've had it to have been given a second chance back in 2021.

    Yeah I'm British so we celebrate mothers on a different date than y'all.

    Another notable consequence of this is that I once wished my maternal grandmother a happy Mother's Day on British Mother's Day not realising that it's in May in Malaysia, where she lives.

    This month's theme is:
    • The first time in 3 years that I've themed as a Mario character despite this being a Mario forum lol (since Antasma in March 2021). That is if you don't count my "default" theme with the Amayzee Dayzee avatar.
    • The end of my 1 year streak of Ever After High themes. Which started only 2 months after I finished my 1 year streak of MLP/EqG themes
    • Only the 4th Mario character I've themed as, and it continues the streak that all of them have been villains: Grubba, Cackletta, Antasma, and Grape.
    • The very first time I'm theming as a non-RPG Mario character.
    • The first time I'm theming as a character from upcoming media

    Birthday updates:
    I went to a play yesterday which is why I wasn't around here much. It's the first time afaicr that my birthday hasn't been spent either at mandatory school/university or just chilling/gaming at home.
    My family made me a great cake (Victoria Sandwich)
    My presents were:
    • An Ever After High birthday card written in EAH lingo
    • Two EAH-themed mugs
    • Two bottles of Soju (one Peach flavour and one Mango flavour).
    • A new pair of shoes
    • Salted Caramel Brownie snacks
    • Billionaire Shortbread snacks
