I can only tell you that the wiki names of those first three to my knowledge accurately romanize the respective katakana, else I'm not an expert either.

I guess the first one is understandabke though since I believe the n syllable is sometimes mute, though don't quote me on that.
 
I'm curious to know how it was determined that "Gooble" specifically referred to the Puchipuchi enemy and not something else.

I wonder if BradyGames got their names out of a different guide than the official Shogakukan one. It's totally possible that some guides in Japan got the names wrong if they weren't the "default" guide, right?

There are a few enemies that copy their names exactly (Geeso for Blooper, Pakkun Flower for Piranha Plant, etc.) and I didn't bother to list those. On a side note, the Neji Bomb/Bob-omb seems different enough in terms of both appearance and abilities that it might warrant a separate article, but that's an issue for another time.

Process by elimination. The other names featured on Toadstool Tour's scoreboard are descriptive enough that you can eventually determine that "Gooble" reffers to the (sorta) bubble-shaped things that emerge from puddles of goops.

Looks like they were just taking shitty liberties with all the names, assuming our names are accurate. Our names were added by a Japanese user who said he gets his info from "in-games, in manuals, both fan and official websites, and guides" when he was asked for citations - less than ideal, but in general, his names do make more sense than the BradyGames ones when translated. For example, "puchipuchi" for Gooble is sort of a bubbly popping noise (lots of enemy names are onomatopoeic - in SMS and beyond), whereas the best I can do for "name kuri" is "lick chestnut"...

I wouldn't be opposed. I'd still like to see the three Eletro-Koopa colours split, in fact (the fact that this guide gives the red and blue ones different names having reminded me of how I hate that we only have the one page for three, or at least two, clearly distinct species).

As of today, all Navigational Templates have an [edit] button that allow editors to immediately edit them from any page where it is visible. Major props goes to Walkazo, who finalised the coding for the {{Edit}} (Template:Edit) template this week, which made this possible. Other credits go to me for proposing the idea, Glowsquid for pestering me about it, and finally Walkazo and I for doing the maintenance work required to make this into reality.
 
So if you make any nav templates from now on, remember to include {{edit|NAME}} up in the banner line, to the left of the title. If you stumble across any extant nav templates that don't have it yet, that's only because they were left out of [[Category:Navigation Templates]], so please add both the edit button and the category to these poor malformed templates. And remember, it's only navigation templates: infoboxes (and other types of misc. templates) don't get these, since it's much rarer that someone reading a page will feel the need to edit the infobox (plus, they're pretty narrow, so it'd be hard to fit it in anyway).

In addition to making editing easier, the [edit] buttons also balance out the [show] buttons, so now all the titles are perfectly centered, instead of being slightly off to the left - I doubt anyone really cared all that much, but eh, now it's perfect, so yay (until you click it since [hide] is narrower than [show], but eh, what can you do - it's a pretty minor shift).

Plus, we can also feel proud of being one of the only non-wikipedia wikis to actually go to the trouble of doing this to our templates, afaik. Go us.
 
Quick question: why do the M&L nav templates have a colon in their title, but the PM nav templates don't? Compare PMTTYD (Template:PMTTYD) and PMSS (Template:PMSS) versus ML:SS (Template:ML:SS), ML:PIT (Template:ML:PIT), ML:BIS (Template:ML:BIS), and ML:DT (Template:ML:DT). It's a minor thing to gripe about, but I'm curious if there's an actual reason for it or if some people just had different thoughts and stuck with them.

On a whole, most templates forgo the colons, with the few odd ones out just being due to different thoughts, as you said. Then people copy earlier templates in a series when they make new templates and keep the pattern up - which is actually a good idea, as it makes it easier to guess the correct title if you're adding missing templates to a page, and looks better overall. For example, M&SATLOG (Template:M&SATLOG) using an & instead of an A like all the other MASATOG (Template:MASATOG) templates is pretty irritating and sloppy, whereas at least the M&L series is consistent in its aberrant colons and lack of either "&" or "A".

A couple years back, we did make an effort to regulate things a bit and went around and made sure all the templates used acronyms whenever possible (i.e. whenever two titles don't share an acronym), but we decided that changing existing acronyms to match one particular style would be too much trouble for what it was worth, so long as the acronym was still accurate and understandable.

Interesting - I didn't know that was even a function of the language settings. Ah well, at least it's still closER to the center now than it was before.

Great! I was wondering when it was going to be enacted and I was close to notifying you in the talk page or in the forum when to get started because I was really tempted to go ahead and finish the thing myself.

Also, I'm tempted to create another Talk Page proposal to split the Bob-omb in Super Mario Sunshine to its own article as well. Hopefully, there are few, if any objections to that.
 
I wonder, why do Super Mario Sunshine level articles have the {{location-infobox (Template:location-infobox)}} template, whilst Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 level articles get the {{galaxybox (Template:galaxybox)}} template? It feels awfully inconsistent. Why are Super Mario Sunshine levels treated differently? They act almost like levels in the Super Mario Galaxy games, what with changing how the levels look like in almost every Episode selected and whatnot.
 
My bigger concern is the logic behind giving Super Mario 64 articles infoboxes clearly designed for the galaxy levels. By design alone, it doesn't make sense either that Sunshine doesn't use it since 3D Mario games before 3D World use the episode format. I'm believing that it's just editor oversight that we don't use the more specific and superior galaxybox (although a misnomer).
 
Or leave {{galaxybox}} for the SMG games only, and make one or two new boxes for SM64 and SMS, depending on how much overlap can be done.

When it comes to more specialized infoboxes, it's better to just make different ones custom-fitted to their respective games, rather than trying to strong-arm one poor template into serving various games with different needs. It just leads to messier coding, and somewhat sloppy-looking outputs (skipped stripes, etc.).
 
That's what I had in mind.

I just think we can put two infoboxes {{64levelbox}} (64box might work too, but I feel it's not descriptive enough) and {{sunshinebox}}. In my opinion, it would be easier to just make them two boxes for editor-related navigation, linking, organization, and convenience. And we might go for a coherent design in the future (say, Sunshine-related templates get a consistent color scheme or something). I'm just throwing that one out there, though, so someone more experienced in that area can evaluate how well that argument holds up.
 
I dunno, having both by-item and by-store lists makes sense, and the lists are so different, I don't really see a pressing need to merge them: better to leave two nice, solid standalone articles than one single mash-up imo.
 
I suppose if the two started as one article, it would make sense to keep them merged as well. And somehow, I get reminded of the "by ingredient" recipe articles we deleted Well, I guess the status quo sticks around for this one, but I really think both ways can work.
 
Shouldn't Queen Hisstocrat be split from Hisstocrat?
 
The translations on the World-e pages are really sloppy and broken-sounding. This was brought up in another thread in the forums but I figured that we should be more aware of it, especially since posters here are most likely concerned with wiki credibility and being a serious source.
