You don't have to ask, you can read the posts right above yours and his final interactions in his posts

Let's just make it clear that this is happening because you don't want to face the consequences of your disparaging comments coming into the open in a way that you're now aware of despite a whole *bleep*load of us being in-the-know about it for some time.  I'm not gonna let this cordial goodbye be a nice send-off for everyone to forget what happened with time for forgiveness to return with splendor by next weekend.  The reason this place feels foreign and unattached is because you're afraid that some people here are gay and/or trans and you can't deal with it.

I hope you grow from this and become a better person in life, because otherwise this track will lead you straight to darkness.

🏳️‍🌈 happy early pride month, be sure to vote in the polls come June 🏳️‍🌈

i already told you what i think you should do but i asked my sister and she said "paris is known for shopping and art museums but he must know that already" and "i really liked the bus tour because you could ride around all day and get on and off wherever you wanted"

We're gonna do some nighttime boat ride on the seine, and shopping is A+++++, I just uhhhhhhh don't know where.  There's apparently some hugeass mall that's like the Celadon Department Store, as well as a Monoprix and Carrefour on every block, but I don't know what else to really look for or where.  Even specific bakeries and food shops are hard to figure out which one is worthwhile without some kind of direction, as all of the guides online really only point towards the tippity top that I don't really need to go to and are just expensive tourist traps at this point.

Hey guys, time for me to flex 💪

This summer I'm going to blow literally ALL of my money going on a trip to Paris because the opportunity presented itself and I don't think I could live with myself if I passed it up.  Now, the reason I'm posting this here is because I have limited plans.  I need things to try, things to do, things to see, and I will take those suggestions and turn them into a review or two later on down the road.  If you have any ideas, such as choking on strange cheeses, being assaulted in a hammam for the sake of beauty, and vending machine baguettes, please let me know!

gonna need a bit more than that, my boy

if you would like to set up a tournament, you can start by checking out how other tournaments in the past were set up and provide us with some rules, guidelines, a timeline for the schedule, etc.

Confirming the note from the OP, in the latest meeting we have officially decided to retired the Token and Prize system for Anniversary tournaments.  Rather than rewording everything, I'll just copy and paraphrase what Edo graciously posted in the staff board prior to our discussion:

It's been talked about for a while, it's been sort of on the agenda, but now it is finally coming. (...) This means all tokens currently in circulation will be nullified, the prize list will be abolished, and there will no longer be awards-sponsored material incentive given out for participation in awards tournaments.

Why is this happening?

If you look at the prize list, an overwhelming amount of items are provided by one person, with help from a small number of others. This is not sustainable. We cannot thrust the full weight of supporting this system onto one to a few poor sods who have to pay all of this out of their own pocket, without even getting so much as a thank you. Frankly, it's kind of appalling that we even did this for so long. Only through the generosity of a few select individuals did this system survive until now without collapsing. All attempts to reach out to people to contribute prizes of their own have failed; people like getting them, but not so much giving them. This is not a fair system.

Additionally, Steam has really *bleep*ed up people's ability to hold onto games and gifting them, making the buying of new prizes very inconvenient. We'd have to invest a lot of effort into finding a suitable alternative method, and ultimately it's not really worth it.

Additionally additionally, we waste weeks, if not months each year going through the lists and asking each person for their prize selection, hunting down inactive users, and dealing with Steam's bull*bleep*. It's an ordeal.

tl;dr: It's a huge waste of time, effort, and money (of a select few people who bear all the costs).

Why do this now?

We've talked a bit about this possibility during last year's suggestion thread, and the notion has been met with cautious optimism. The general vibe was "we like to play in tournaments to engage with the community, and prizes are just a side thing". This presents us with a good opportunity to continue from that vibe and get this process done smoothly and painlessly. Shift focus to the social aspect.

Will this affect tournament participation?

It's possible. I would like to think that our community is strong enough to want to play games with their fellow users without being promised a reward, but a few people might jump off as a result. However, that's not really something we should concern ourselves with if the alternative comes at an unreasonable cost. I don't think the hit will be that noticable.

And if it's a huge concern, tournament hosts are not prohibited from offering their own prizes if they so wish. But I don't think it will be necessary.

What will this mean for 'Shroom tokens?

With the abolishment of the prize list and awards tokens, the 'Shroom will no longer have a prize pool to draw from. The 'Shroom staff will have to discuss amongst themselves if they want to continue their token system or come up with an alternative. In case of the former they will have to create their own prize pool. But that decision ultiimately lies with the 'Shroom staff, and the awards committee has no influence on it.

If there are any questions, comments, concerns at all please feel free to post here or send me a message about this.  Retiring this system will allow for the development of the ceremony to be of much more ease, and that lack of stress trickles down to tournaments hosts who don't have to worry about token rates and me breathing down their necks for numbers.  All I'd need to see is an outline for tournament rules and we can help coordinate and schedule it.

New review :pgp:

Issue 144 - March 2019 - Germany: Strudel, Streussel, Nussecken, Linzer Torte, Almond Horn, Leberkäse Sandwich

Even though I'm booked for pretty much the rest of the year, I am still open to suggestions!  Specifically I'm looking for Halloween and Autumn stuff to review, but anything else works and I'll find a way to do it in a timely manner!
