Mario Awards XIII / Re: Art Contest -- Submissions due by July 13th
« on: June 10, 2019, 01:53:54 PM »

The "I got a promotion and subsequent raise" update!  I can confirm that I will be giving out some sort of prizes for recipients of various awards this year!  Don't know what, probably gift cards, and probably not too big, but they will be there!

There is roughly a month left to submit something.  If you plan on doing anything just please let me know!!

If you plan on doing something for this, please let me know here in this thread, so I can gauge the interest level to sort out awards and stuff!

For each award that there is, we have someone make something to present the results for the anniversary ceremony each year.  It could be a comic, artwork, short story, whatever.  You can check out last year's through a bunch of links in here.

Not much in terms of the AC.  The Community Awards Dossier needs to be complete, the polls need to be made, the anniversary page needs to be edited to fit the polls, contests and tournaments need to start flowing, presentation sign-ups and other forms and documents need to be made, gotta see if the tally bot is working this year.  Basically, behind-the-behind-the-scenes stuff that the core AC staff will be working on.

Presentation sign-ups begin July 1st, so look forward to that!  Also be sure to check out the tournaments going on, such as the Art Contest.

I have few more questions, is it possible to start a tournament without the host participating?

Also is it too late to start a tournament?

It is not required for a host to participate, and it is also not too late.  The window of time for awards tournaments is June 1st - August 31st.  Without tokens and prizes anymore that window of time has less of a utilitarian purpose and more of just a relevancy purpose.  It's better to start working on a tournament sooner than later, though.

but it's a bit late for interest threads.

it's not

aliens 👽

also you can perhaps compare different theories or ideas for each topic, if possible, and give your stance.  Like, if it's aliens, go over different reasons why people think there are or aren't any.

Heya, so my goal right now is by the 25th I will post the formal rules, schedule, and themes for the contest!  I'm intending on it following a similar schedule to previous years, with submissions being accepted starting June 1st - July 13th.  A day or so before the formal rules go up I will do a blind selection of which themes we will be using from the list generated from valid suggestions here, so if you want to throw in any ideas for that or further suggestions for rules and structure now is the time!

I just want everyone to know that right now the AC is deciding on nominees for C4 Favorite 2018 Awards Presentation, and I'm selecting my 15 picks in the poll and I'm having a REALLY hard time from the already tough-to-pick pool of 39.

Good job on presentations, let's keep it up!  :bowser::thumbup:

19:47   Anton{Politoed}   that was the idea but then I thought about it and that seems like a lot of No Fun
19:47   Gabumon   I thought maybe you could have a pool of options for people to pick from
19:47   Anton{Politoed}   so maybe do a lottery to pick like 3 or whatever to pick from yeah

Mario Awards XIII / Art Contest -- Submissions due by July 13th
« on: April 30, 2019, 07:36:56 PM »

According to an arcane source of mystical divination arts, our three themes of this Art Contest have been selected!

Handcrafted   *   Luigi has a strange encounter at the grocery store   *   A moment of contemplation

Info and rules:
*One (1) entry per individual.
*Winners will be selected with a public vote using Polldaddy Crowdsignal polls linked both here and in The 'Shroom.
*The theme of your piece must be of at least one of the three above.  A focus on the Marioverse or this community is preferred.
-If you can't decide and want to make something that fits multiple themes, go for it!
-You are free to interpret any of the themes as you wish!
*All kinds of art will be accepted (Drawings both computer and traditional, short comics, sculptures, photos, etc.), but please keep the final image static and non-moving!  This is to help keep this small contest more fair and balanced.
*Awards will be given for multiple things, with the list being finalized once all submissions are in.  Some of those may include:
-Best in Show
-Best Interpretation of Theme
-Most Creative
-Best Concept
-Funniest Entry
-Most Improved

Please send all submissions to me starting June 1st - July 13th, whether it's my inbox here, or query on chat, so long as it's private.  There is no need to sign up, but if I am at least aware that you are interested and plan in sending something in, the deadline can be extended up until July 19th for you as I'd already know to be expecting it.

Voting will take place July 20th - August 10th, and polls will be located both within this thread and in a special 'Shroom section in July's issue.

Please don't post entries within this thread!!

Sign-ups aren't necessary but expressing your interest will help me see how many people there will be and create a balanced contest.  It is currently undecided whether we will stick with using the three skill tiers we've used in the last few years, as those combined with the separate themes may be too much delineation, but this is all dependent on what we receive in total for submissions.  If you would like to include with your submission what you believe your skill tier is (beginner, amateur, or experienced), it would be helpful to organize submissions should there be enough to warrant the separation.

Spoiler: skill tier info (click to show/hide)

Ultimately, fairness and fun is the goal here!!

If there are any questions, comments, concerns, including ideas for possible awards or changes to the rules please post them in this thread.

Check out last year's contest and results!

Spoiler: old info (click to show/hide)

You don't have to ask, you can read the posts right above yours and his final interactions in his posts

Let's just make it clear that this is happening because you don't want to face the consequences of your disparaging comments coming into the open in a way that you're now aware of despite a whole *bleep*load of us being in-the-know about it for some time.  I'm not gonna let this cordial goodbye be a nice send-off for everyone to forget what happened with time for forgiveness to return with splendor by next weekend.  The reason this place feels foreign and unattached is because you're afraid that some people here are gay and/or trans and you can't deal with it.

I hope you grow from this and become a better person in life, because otherwise this track will lead you straight to darkness.

🏳️‍🌈 happy early pride month, be sure to vote in the polls come June 🏳️‍🌈
