Guard Toad:
"Attention contestants! The game is about to begin! Please gather to the entrance of the temple and await further instructions!"
Guard Toad slips through a crack in the doors. Moments later, the doors open. You walk up the steps and enter.
"It is I, the great Rock Paper Wizard! Thank you all for coming to this grand temple. I will be your host for the duration of this competition!"
"Some have traveled from afar. But, I sense someone among you. Yes… A True Master is here in our midst. But which one will arise? Which one will be victorious? Let the Roshambo Battle Royal begin!"
"Now, contestants, I'd like to direct your attention to this panel on the wall over here. These are the rules of the game. There are some rules that have not yet been mentioned before. So please take the time to read them."
Rules
- In this game, you will battle against your opponents to be the last man standing. I will allow players to make alliances and break them. it's up to you. Remember, this is the first test run of this format.
- Everyone will be given 6 Normal cards and one Special card at the start of the game. The cards are dealt randomly from an evenly grouped deck, meaning there should be an equal amount of each type of card in play.
- Each round, you will submit an action to the host. This action will be private. Failure to submit an action in the allotted time will result in a forced move by the host. Failure to submit an action for two rounds will result in elimination.
- If you wish, you may revise your action before the round ends.
- At the end of the round, submissions will be locked and the host will finalize everything and post the results of the round. Results will consist of what cards were played by who, how many cards everyone has and who is still left in the game or if anyone was eliminated. Specific cards in players hands and targets will remain hidden.
The Endgame
- End game starts when 3 or less players are left. Repeat-targeting is allowed in the endgame
The Showdown
- If at the end of the game there is a stalemate, meaning no further developments can be made, then every round the remaining players hand's will be replaced with one Wild card until there is one player left.
The True Master
- The last player left in the game will be declared the winner and be awarded with a Prize.
Submitting an Action
- Actions are to be submitted privately to the host before the round deadline. I will be sending you a private message here on the forums for this purpose.
- An action consists of an attack and a target. You will choose one card from your hand as an attack and any remaining player from the game as your target.
Example of an action submitted to the host:
Attack: Rock
Target: Johny
- Once submitted, that card will be sent to attack that player. The card you send out will also act as your defense to any incoming attacks. If at any point in the round you lose to an attack, you will lose the card you submitted. If you survive the round, you get to keep that card.
- You will be informed privately at the end of the round if your card was successful or not. You will not be shown any other information, like who or how many people targeted you. You may be able to deduce this by the public results.
Cards
- There are 3 types of basic cards. Rock, Paper and Scissors. These cards should be self explanatory. Rock beats Scissors, Scissors beats Paper, Paper beats Rock.
- You can choose to group more than one Normal card of the same type for your action. This will beat any number of fewer cards of the same type.
- Ties do nothing.
- You cannot target yourself.
- You cannot target the same opponent twice in a row before the endgame. The endgame will start once there are 3 people left in the game. During the endgame, the repeat-target restrictions will be lifted.
Special Cards
- There are 3 types of special cards. Wild, Net, and Binocs. The rules above still apply, unless changed by the special card. Special cards are one time use, meaning, if you use it, it goes away.
- All special cards ignore repeat-target restrictions.
- Choose Rock, Paper or Scissors. Then choose at most 3 remaining players to target. Public reports of this card will only reveal the chosen symbol.
- You may still group a Normal Card of the same type to make the attack stronger.
- Choose any remaining player as your target. After the entire round has resolved, you will privately sees every card your target will carry into the next round, including Normal Cards and Specials.
- Any cards targeted at you will not count as an attack, instead they will go into your hand. The point of this card is to stop multiple people from ganging up on one person. When playing this card, you will still need to choose a target because another Net could be in play and possibly capture this card.
This game is basically a test run, so I have allowed alliances for now. But remember, this is a game, so please be respectful to all players.
Please feel free to ask if you have any questions about the rules. Have fun!
I'm thinking rounds submission times will be 2 to 3 days. I'll give the first round more time to get everyone prepared.
