Awards Killing Game 2x2: Moon of Hope (Game Thread) - Day 3 - The Rat, the Bat, and the Dragon

Kyeheheh, now let's try this sucker on the sarcophagus or the clockworks!
You try this key on the coffin of Solaire of the Sun. It clicks.

The coffin lid slowly slides open. Inside is an ancient mummy in full armor, hands clasped around a strange, orange and yellow stone shaped like the sun.

The Sun Stone has been discovered!

You may now put your name forth for taking the Sun Stone. A vote will be held on who obtains it at the end of the Twilight Phase.

Kyahahaha, just on cue! As the rightful discoverer of this "Sun Stone", I think it's only right that it belongs to me. Don't worry, I've got no intention of using it for "evil" within the bounds of this stupid game. I'll nuke the big blocky bastard if you want, our alliance is... well, it's on shaky ground now! Kyeheheheh...

...hark, while mine humble words may come as a slight surprise, thy hour of reckoning is nigh. Foolish mortals, who dare to tangle with forces that should remain untouched for eternity, I beseech you, reconsider this path, posthaste.

While the moon promises hope and salvation, yond glittering solar stone is dangerous. My master fought its owner, millenia ago. It beggars belief thou would consider awarding it to a killer, no less one liasing with a demonic spirit themselves.

Gadd's instructions were clear, but thy experiment has officially fallen off the rails. Should I be forced to act to protect this valley, I shall. At the cost of mine own life, even.

If thou wish to survive to the end of this, give me the stone. There is no other option.

Oho, what's this? An upgrade you say? Marvellous! Let's activate it at once! What could possibly go wrong with an experimental device made by a mad scientist that hasn't been tested in any way yet?

Look at the western wall of the Dark Lab with a dark light, searching for any mechanisms or hidden doors
You cast a darklight over the empty wall, and observe as the faintest, glowing outline of a door appears, with three names: Surtr, Ymir, Nix, scratched around the following symbol, with lines joining them together in a triangle.

symbol_end.png

There is no doorknob on it, and when you try to push on it, you only feel the wall.

Look in the Horology Studio for the same symbol and names
You examine the Horology studio, and find KBB writing in a large, purple journal. He flashes a grin at you as he closes the book, and makes it vanish. He doesn't seem to be aware of what you're looking for, and is confused by the symbol and names himself. The jewel of his crown flashes briefly with an ominous purple.

You fail to find anything related to those subjects in the Horology Studio.

So, it's come to this... I've warned youse time and again, but youse don't seem to listen. That Sun Stone... ain't nothin' good that will come of it. Youse might think all I've been doin' is goin' aroun' causin' destruction, but that ain't the case. I've been doin' what every Ace Detective does best: solvin' the mysteries of this here valley. And while I first thought that I'd just be gettin' the weakness to finally defeat King Blocky Boo... I found out the mystery goes deeper. There's somethin' more ancient, more deadly, more powerful sleepin' in these hills... and it's contained in that there Sun Stone.

Evershade_valley.png
See, this place ain't always been the diverse, moon-blessed valley we all know and love. Go back a few thousand years, there was this guy named Solaire. Someone mentioned him on our first night here, so I did a little diggin'. There's lots of accounts of the guy, who used the power of the sun to conquer the land and sky on his chariot of light. His followers praised his golden name, but don't be fooled, they didn't do it with their words. Ritual slaughter, execution, betrayal... Nasty crap. Eventually, he crash-landed in this here valley, back when it was one whole land instead of five. Once he got here, he got into a fight with the Lantern Ghost, which lasted for days. The slaughter ruined the land, and permanently damaged the leylines below it. The Lantern Ghost managed to seal Solaire's soul inside a crystal... the very one that we're fightin' over now. That Lantern Ghost then settled down here, keepin' the place safe and trainin' up a successor, our buddy Vigil, whose job is to keep this place protected from demonic ghosts.

What's a demonic ghost, you ask? Well, those leylines that were damaged in the battle have allowed other ghosts to manifest, each with their own legend. Our benevolent "king" Blocky Boo here is one of 'em, but he's actually in a pretty weakened state by their standards. He still gets a fright from a lightbulb flash, but the others need to be killed with different methods. The rats from our first night here, the mummy from last night... they're both demonic ghosts, or at least weakened versions of them. I've found evidence of others existing, too, like a spider, a plant, and the original King Boo, who I fought back in the day. And I've found records about one more... an "unnamed demon king", whose true name is mired in mystery, but whose pseudonyms are related to the sun. I had a feelin' I knew who this was, and talkin' to Vigil confirmed my suspicions: after Solaire's defeat, the descendants of his followers started seperatin' his name from his actions, attributin' all the misdeeds to a so-called "demon king" instead. And given we've seen that other demonic ghosts have started to appear, it can only lead to one conclusion... if we ain't careful, this same evil might show up again too. Vigil said as much could happen, and everythin' I've uncovered here has corroborated the things he told me. I ain't no second-rate detective that doesn't check his sources.

atmey-normal.png

So, we don't know what'll happen if one of us gets the stone. Maybe it'll give that person awesome destructive powers to kill King Blocky Boo... or maybe the soul inside it'll take over that person with awesome destructive powers that'll kill all of us. I don't wanna take no risks here. If we're goin' by first come first serve, then sure, Lyra should get it. But if she wanted first come, first serve, she shoulda grabbed it in the dark of night, when no one would contest her. For my money, I think Vigil will take care of things. Maybe there's some sun worshippers here who think he's biased, though, so I'd also be willin' to give it to Jackson as a neutral party. He don't seem like the kinda guy to kill.

Here are the documents Prince Winter, Reigen and I found under the ice.
Present the Disregarded experiments notes, and the recording on the upcoming grand experiment and the possibility of Gadd vanishing.
You present the following 4 lore files:
Under The Ice Notes: 7 Disregarded Experiments
Under The Ice Blueprints: 7 Disregarded Experiments
TO BE ADDED: Under The Ice Recording: The Upcoming Grand Experiment
TO BE ADDED: Under The Ice Recording: If I Vanish

Under The Ice Notes/Blueprints: 7 Disregarded Experiments said:
Note: outdated as of final test registry. Unless a powerful force intervenes, AURUMDESIRE, PRINCEOFBLUE, and YOUREBALD will be distributed over █████████, ████████, and R█████████. These three ghost powers and gaddgets will be sealed in the Dungeons until further notice. Gadd's notes state he inherited these three as part of his deed conferral, and has tried to avoid putting them in Grand Experiments for the last decade, but this year, he's running out of time... and energy.

- Code: ARMISTICE - Depicts a haunted coat that produces extra arms for use. With spiritual synchronisation, its theorised the wielder can lift and carry large objects, manipulate multiple complex weapons at once, and juggle like a pro.
- Code: AURUMDESIRE - Depicts a golden alloy that can change shape within... some kind of parameter. Gadd theorizes its form changes depending on the wielder.
- Code: BELOWZERO - Depicts a strange wooden stick and ice pack that can lower a user's body temperature beyond normal. On use, it will lower the users body temperature and stop their heart rate, but only temporarily. This gives the illusion of death. The persons spirit can still witness and remember everything while remaining in an unmoving body.
- Code: MYCELIUM - Depicts a mound of tended garden dirt producing wonderful mushrooms. It seems Gadd has yet to try any of them, but if they're like those of what little he remembers of home, they should possess wondrous effects like strength, or miniaturization.
- Code: PRINCEOFBLUE - Depicts a compass and pen that can add new rooms to the mansion. There's a great list of "unused" rooms that can be drawn onto the map, which will them have their contents filled via boxes in the Rafters. Gadd speculates he's finally cracked the mystery of the Complex's strange, appearing and disappearing doors, and hopes to contain its powers once and for all.
- Code: SURTRSTROMMING - Depicts a living sludge formed from compounded salted fish that grows exponentially large. It seems the longer it goes without being killed, the bigger it grows, and the more resistance to its elemental weakness it gets. It can only be tamed through gaddget registration.
- Code: YOUREBALD - Depicts a harmless electric razor. No other info is gleaned, as Gadd doesn't expect anyone to die during the experiment, due to the Dark Moon's protection.

Storage for these Gaddgets has been allocated until the grand experiment begins:
BELOWZERO - Under The Ice
YOUREBALD - Rest Rooms
SURTRSTROMMING - Kitchen
AURUMDESIRE - Smuggler's Hideout
ARMISTICE - Coatroom
BLUEPRINCE - Clockwork Court
MYCELIUM - Greenhouse

Further details on the Gaddget will be conferred either by obtaining the Gaddget and blueprint, or applying it to someones soul using the machine in the metal lab. See [Metal] file using code #00326A.

Under The Ice Recording: The Upcoming Grand Experiment said:
To Mona, Tanner, and Vigil. When you find this message, I must confess to the three of you, this will be final Grand Experiment.

Since being stranded here many years ago, and suddenly inheriting the building in a lottery I never entered, I've intended to solve the mysteries at the heart of this Complex, my existence, and the strangeness of the Valley at large. I've been granted peaceful relationships with ghosts and spirits I never thought possible. Achieved powers unthinkable. Fought off ████ from the R████████ for many years. I have no basis for the wealth and influence I have accrued, but should those vampires come to collect, I will not surrender until I have the answers I seek.

Backing the pursuit of paranormal science, I have grappled with fragmented memories that I was truly once someone else, somewhere else. I am finally given reason to believe that beyond the dark forest known as the edge of the universe lies countless others, and somehow, I am here, instead of there. The Dark Moon which halts death hanging over my head.

This is not the Valley I recall. There were once five mansions, not one. Five lands, not one. Only in my nightmares do I recall a ritual, undertaken in another world, of five people uniting against one great spirit. I have pored over the legend of the Moon of Hope, the stories of Solaire crossing the skies, from worlds beyond...

I am not a grand scientist, yet, I have the memories of one.

In many ways, I've come to theorise that the terrible demonic spirit plaguing this complex and I are linked to the same, underlying, universal contradiction. I suspect I know who he truly is, and how that may weaken him. Before the Grand Experiment begins, I am going to attempt to free him from his decades-long prison in the Dungeons, and give him my final question. One I've spent many Grand Experiments forming.

Many others who responded to the invitation claim there was once "more" here. Another game. Another mansion. Her elemental capacity is in direct contradiction to the principles of this universe.

I cannot wait for further testing. I cannot wait for the experiment to begin.

Great science begins with asking a single question.

DrGhouligrab_confident.png

Hmph, we're a bit grabby today, aren't we? Well, as one of the world's premier paranormal researchers - far succeeding this Gadd buffoon, I might add - it's only fitting that I, Dr. Tempest Ghouligrab, hold on to the Sun Stone!

Scusi... Fascia and I felt the need to rest again.

Mr. Atmey, I understand we've suspected you for many deeds committed by others. In the eye of the laws that govern this game, tu sei innocente.

albina_2nd_smile.png

But I can't trust someone who makes it their mission to destroy everything they get their hands on. Such senseless, barbaric violence. My Maestro and I knew someone like this - an "uncultured, uncivilized animal," as he put it.

So, we want to put our names in for the stone. Fascia and I won't fight you. We want to be friends. Friends are good.

But, whether Miss Lyra gets it in the end, or Vigil, or even Fascia and I, I won't let you dissuade me.

SPOILER_PorticiaKnightV2.png

What's that? Some solar trinket? I could take it off your hands.

...but where's the entertai~nya~ment in that? Shiny stones? Gaudy, I already said it! Sorry, Suit, but if you wanted it, you should've loosened up and dirtied your mitts!

Orange Crush is almost tempting, but what, he's going to have it sit in his pockets this whole time? At least Lyra intends to put it to use!

So I see we seem be in some sort of democratic debate over ownership of this Sun Stone thingy? I don't know what it does, nor do I really care, I have no need for magical trinkets in this age of technological advancements. The way I see it, I think it's only fair the finder, Dr. Lyra, should get to keep it. Sure, she might be a murderer that I don't trust any more than I can throw a sun stone but I most certainly don't trust any of the rest of you who are claiming to be noble protectors either.

Excellent, my magic's been returned to me, at least partially. I most likely won't have it all back until after I give back this Gaddget.

And... the holy Sun Stone has been found. I knew it was here.

lulu_05.png

I apologize Vigil, but my faith is too strong to be shaken by the biased narrative you've given me, the same as your trust in your Master. Though I don't consider you my mortal enemy, I will have to stand against you and give this stone to Dr. Orpheus. I am certain that the Sun Stone will be good, and it will save us all.

With that out of the way, I would like to Search the Aviation Exhibit for symbols of Ouranos, That is one setting on the Solarium Map that I can't be certain what it does.

No no NO!!! The Sun Stone must be the most valuable discovery so far! It is imperative that you keep it in trusted hands! Please, you must let me have oversight over it!

1785806417698.png

If it has to end up in someone else's hands, at least have the trusted, responsible groundskeeper hold onto it...
