I honestly see New Super Mario Bros. 2: Gold Edition more as a DLC (or just a rerelease or edition of the game) than a full game. But what do you guys think?

I mean New Super Luigi U is pretty much a different game compared to New Super Mario Bros. U, so I see NSMBU + NSLU more as a compilation and NSMB2:GE just as an expansionI view it as a similar deal as that Wii U version of New Super Mario Bros. U + New Super Luigi U, which is basically the complete edition of the game for the console that it's released on.
With that said, if they do port New Super Mario Bros. 2 (either as New Super Mario Bros. 2 Deluxe or New Super Mario All-Stars), they have to use the Gold Edition as the base.
Thank you for reading.
New Super Luigi U is indeed an expansion game. While there is a standalone game for it (at a far lower price, given it's treated as priced similarly to an expansion). This is not like NES Remix Pack where it's a true compilation and you select the game from the menu, since New Super Luigi U is selectable from the save file.I mean New Super Luigi U is pretty much a different game compared to New Super Mario Bros.
