Mario to appear in The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

It's official, after 40 years it's finally happening. Mario is going to be a giant character ballon in The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Be sure to watch Mario soar over the streets of New York City on Thanksgiving Day for the first time ever on November 27th at 8:30 on NBC with the coverage of The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Mark your calendars or set a reminder Mario fans. It is to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. game in 1985.

I already announced it, but yeah, it was true and I just literally screamed

Sonic's had a balloon since 1993, I always wondered what the fuck took Mario so long.

THANK FUCKING GOD YOU SAID THIS!! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ it made me so angry that it took 30 FUCKING YEARS FOR MARIO TO GET A BALLOON AND SONIC GOT ONE SINCE THE 90s. FUCKING NINTENDO GREED

FUCKING NINTENDO GREED

Pikachu did get a balloon too, in 2001.

idk why Mario gets left out of things like this, Mario has also yet to get an official Funko Pop figure too when literally like everything has one.

Sonic is faster than Mario. That explains why Sonic got a balloon first, among other media types such as film.

Well, to be fully serious Nintendo seems to be very cautious about licensing and Sega seems to be less so.

I guess it's important for Super Mario to have a balloon, as it is a branding right of passage and for young people it will certainly be exciting. But like, I already know Mario's a big deal so it doesn't excite me that much.

I agree that it doesn't excite me too

The impact TSMBM had in the world is the legit reason on why this exists. I've been a Mario fan for 15 years, and seeing it's popularity balloon (no pun intended)... I can't put it into words on how this feels, and now we're here: in a world where Mario is now a giant balloon in a parade.

Is it me or is other people but something's really off about the balloon, it doesn't look good

That's pretty cool. The Macy's parade really is a good sample of the most well-known cartoon characters in American culture. (I know Mario is a Japanese creation, I'm talking about how well known it is to Americans.)
