How do you regard the amiibo collection so far?

Well we know there was a reason why Kart 8DX just gave Birdo and Toadette Mii outfits without requirement. I think what further dissapoint fans was that NIntendo chose variants over completing main cast earlier within the enough budget.

Do you agree with Nintendo's plans so far? Or you think some Super Mario games or characters miss the best chance to release amiibos in past years?

The entire point of amiibos is collecting characters and I'm not exactly thrilled that they kinda stopped production without giving some other playable characters amiibo. Toadette was a giant sore spot too, because she was the only playable character in Mario Party: Star Rush without one.

I can understand the negativity towards the whole lack of new character amiibos. I'd love to see amiibos of Bowser's minions and a Pauline amiibo too. Most of all, I want more Luigi variants like how Mario has variants. Honestly, there's still hope with the release of upcoming games during the 40th anniversary.

My biggest issue with the recent things lies in the pricing. It's tempting to get the Galaxy one for its detailed modeling and a little scene below but 40 dollars is way too much for this thing (I find it darkly funny it's the same price as the good it's marketing, which is also overpriced) and I don't want to feel like I'm enabling this kind of overcharging for what they honestly are.

Also another thing, the amiibo craze is past over now, as it was coasting off fumes of the late 2010's. Amiibo is smaller scale now, and with that, they're trying to market this to the crowd with the dispensable income that likes their little collector bits on the table. Maybe there is some demand for Pauline and Toadette (lol) and Birdo and Shy Guy but if Nintendo can get away charging like 40 dollars, 50 dollars a more "artistic" direction with these toys, I feel they're going to chase after making amiibo detailed and special to justify that rather than try to be comprehensive.

Not saying there won't be an expansion, maybe we'll see the other Mario characters down the line. But it feels like they're releasing a set of collector items to tie in a release and banking on that rather than getting a complete roster of characters. They had a better chance when the Super Mario series of amiibo was out back in 2016 but nowadays, not sure if there is as much demand for Pauline, Toadette, Shy Guy, and Birdo, not enough to risk them being shelf warmers the way the current Street Fighter ones are (to be fair these ones are relatively obscure, I don't know many people who are willing to hand fist over cash for Kimberly, Jamie, and Luke).

Maybe if we get a true new Mario party (not counting Switch 2 edition of Jamboree) and amiibo makes a return to that, I could see designs for Pauline, Toadette, and even Waluigi.

If regarding to past games, the problem for a typical roster would be that some of the main cast didn't have respective amiibo, but now since Kart World and Party Jamboree haven't used amiibo features, that concern would be gone.

But still it's embarassing to leave the remaining 1/3 main cast. It would had made sense if they just do very few (likely the Super Smash Bros series) so fans don't necessarily think of the main cast.

Love Kirby but I think it's acceptible to see Nintendo declare that they would just do few of the main cast for AirRiders amiibos rather than the whole roster.

i have little interest in amiibo anymore but i gotta say it was disappointing back in 2017 to go through the whiplash of finding out the superstar saga remake would have amiibo functionality, having the obvious excited first thoughts (superstar saga characters getting amiibo) and then realizing that of course it wouldn't be used for that because that would force them to acknowledge those characters in any capacity in other games. just made me think longingly about a different timeline where that could happen.

I would like more Luigi amiibos tbh 🥺

Hm I've always wanted an amiibo of Mario, ferociously and bad-ass posed with a fire sword or a gun, both of the "over-the-top overdesigned variety you'd find in an rpg", but Nintendo never will make it happen.

I do have a model of Mario, I know how to work with Zbrush and increase the polycount and work on details, I have access to a resin-based 3d printer, I know the basics of resin printing, and there is a games AND a hardware store nearby within walking distance. With some primer, a variety of brushes, acrylic, washes, varnish, and patience, maybe I can make my dream come true someday.

Baby Luigi needs an amiibo.
