Odds that Smash 6 has a guest girl as new series rep?

Title Question

  • Sadly, female leads are still not the likely for Smash 6 Figher Pass

  • I believe some vg girls are iconic enough to be in the top 10.

  • I believe Nintendo will pick by diversity and allow one girl, even if she's not in the original top

As we know, in the curent Everyone roster guest girls are severely lacking, with Bayonetta being the only independent female guest as a series lead. But given that popular or iconic videogame franchises rarely use girls as leads or mascots, it's hard to fully demand the roster to go for total gender equality or balance.

But since we've got many 3rd party series so far, I think we're coming to the point that some iconic games with female mascots remain untouched. Also given the case of Min Min or Pyra who can be picked over male counterpart, I also want to see some other 3rd party series nominate girls first when the conditions approve.

Altho we'd wish that Smash 6 gets more Fighter Passes, let's assume that it only has 2 FPs as usual, which invites 10 brand new 3rd party series. Do you think the ten new series rep will at least have one girl? Or you think girls are still not dominant enough today?

The comparison can be between different franchises from same company, or a franchise that has both female and male candidates (e.g. Alphen vs Shionne from Tales of Arise).

I mean I think Lara Croft is a no-brainer and honestly should have been playable, she's extremely iconic and influential.

I think Shantae's got good chances of getting a promotion from Mii costume like Isabelle and K. Rool did. Also if Street Fighter gets another rep Chun-Li seems most likely. With Lara, I'm a little worried about a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" kind of situation where it bothers people exactly which Lara they base her on.

other considerations/hopes in no particular order

  • a touhou rep
  • joanna dark
  • hat kid
  • madeline celeste (extra diversity points because she's trans woo)
  • b.b. hood (probably the most "suitable for good boys and girls" of the potential lady darkstalkers reps or maybe hsien-ko)
  • annalynn midway

Ring Fit Adventure is in the running for the next Super Smash Bros. if popularity in terms of sales and reception are factors. And like Inkling, the female version of the character is the forefront of the game.

By no means this is a 3rd party brand. Also plus that as said gender option isn't counted, entirely to compare to the independent male guests we've had so far, like Snake and Sonic.

As the topic said we're talking about new series for FP. Chun-Li would be cool but she'd likely be the new SF rep for base game. Or should say the entire topic is about whether future 3rd party series would follow Ryu's case and pick boys over girls.

I love Indie girls but we don't have solid signs they're dominant in competing for fighter chances, since many unused commercial videogame brands still have much bigger sales and profits. I don't think Shantae would have bigger chance if Namco, Capcom and Square are still competing for next Smash.

OK, I see. With that in mind, I agree with Lara Croft being probably the best option of the guest fighter, or perhaps a more daring option could be Arle from Puyo Puyo.

Thank you for reading.

Jill Valentine would also be a good pick, but I'm not that sure about her chances against Chris or Leon. Then again, she was the first character chosen to represent the series in a vs. Capcom game.
