What was your very first video game?

I'm interested in hearing about your first experience with gaming. Me personally, my first video game was Wii Sports + Resort (the limited edition combo disc released late in the Wii's life). I still love this game and play it a few times a month. 👍🏻

Hell yeah Wii Sports Resort, that game totally isn't going to be my identity on YouTube forever no matter how hard I try to pivot away from it ✌️

Mine is hard to pinpoint because it all depends on the timing of when I met my next door neighbor when I was a kid. If I met him before I got my DS, my first game would be either Wii Sports or Super Smash Bros. Brawl. If I met him after I got my DS, my first game would be Mario Kart DS. The issue is that you're asking me (born 2002) to remember the timing of something from the late aughts so I may never know. I'm a little more confident in it being MKDS so that's what I usually say though.

I was petty little when the Wii came out so my memories are a blur of Wii Sports, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Mario Kart Wii.

Wii Sports was probably the first game I played since it was bundled with the Wii. My earliest memory tho, is trying to figure out how to move the characters on the world map of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. And wondering why they were going in the wrong directions. Then my older brother comes over and tells me I'll holding the Wiimote incorrectly.

Idk it was something Minecraft related I think.

As far back as I can remember it was the WII with me and (mostly my brother) playing The legend of Zelda Twilight Princess however i never say the full game only the Boss fight with Zant and thats where we stopped but as for the game I DO remember playing it was SKYLANDERS GIANTS for me it was not only my FIRST dive into video games but also had some of my best memories and by proxy Nintendo consoles to me will always be filled with wonder.

What a classic. I used to play that all the time at my grandparent's place (I think they had the combo disc too).
My first game was Super Mario 64 DS. I was kinda too young to understand how to play the game but man, is that game good. I love the graphics too lol and the mini-games were probably what I spent most of my time doing. I still occasionally play it.

The first game I directly owned was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in a sense, as I had not received Super Mario Maker 2 or Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle yet, which were all birthday/Christmas gifts that year, and MK8 was bundled directly with my Switch. I still remember somehow deciding which one to play first by drawing cards or something to fill out the names of each game, and MK8 won. Turns out all three of these games became some of my favorites.

The first game I played is a split decision, as it's either one of those games on a kids' Amazon Fire (I remember playing through DuckTales Remastered and Disney's Castle of Illusion remaster) roughly 2015 or 16 that I feel like doesn't count (It was just a thing we could play games on, I was not parented by my iPad), but not much else from then, or, according to my dad, SMB and SMW with him on the NES/SNES in 2018, a year prior to my Switch. I have memories of playing World with him, and how we, to this day in that save, have not finished Vanilla Lake. Those memories came back while I played through the Virtual Console port to 100% at the end of the summer. The Wii is also a close contender in my heart, because NSMBWii was my favorite platformer forever. Except 5-4.

I can't remember well enough to be able to say this with 100% certainty, but I believe it was LEGO Chess on the PC, which is a game I no longer have. Other contenders would be Poptropica, Club Penguin, Jurassic Park III: Dino Defender, Age of Empires II, Insaniquarium, and I think some brain train kind of games we had on the PC too, but I can't remember their names exactly. I still revisit JP3 every few years, pretty much exclusively for nostalgic reasons since there's not really anything else about it that appeals to me now.

All this was when I was 4-5, and I believe I was 6 when our family got the Wii, and our first games on that would have also been Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort (but not together in a combo disc.) I liked those games quite a lot but I no longer really play them often. My first Mario game would likely have been Mario Kart Wii, which is a game I like somewhat and still play occasionally, but I prefer Mario Kart 8 now.

I dunno if this counts as "my", but apparently back in the day my family had a Game Boy Color. The only game I remember from it was Spider-Man 2: The Sinister Six. I couldn't get past the first level when I played it.

Nintendo 64, Super Smash Bros. was the first game I played. There's was a whole slew of edutainment games I played in the 90's-early 2000's as well.

As far back as I can remember my first experience with games was Mario kart wii at a playcare my mom dropped me off at, even more specific was a leap frog game system with scooby doo on it.
