Goombeetle. According to the Wiki it's stated to be a Goomba wearing a helmet, But I personally think it's more than that. In fact I think it's a Hybrid. Let me explain.
Before I explain my points we must get to know the Creature. Goombeetles are Goombas that Appeared only In Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. In Mario Galaxy 1 They usually appear in Fortress and Bowser/Jr stages. In Mario Galaxy 2 they only appear in 3 stages. The act just like a regular Goomba, chasing the Luigi upon contact but unlike the Basic Fungus the Goombeetle can't be stomped on due to its protective shell, nor can it be kicked. The only way to defeat it is by either spinning and stomping on it or guiding a Bullet bill into it.

Now it's clear, the Goombeetle looks a lot like the Og, The best Mario enemy in existence (in my opinion) Buzzy Beets
But the Wiki claims they are ONLY Goombas despite sharing similarities to their Turtle counterparts. So I'm here to convince you that Goombeetles are Goombas/Buzzy Beetle Hybrids.
Now one point you might make is "Buzzy Dude, you bubbling idiot, that isn't a shell that's a helmet!" Well voices in my head that won't go away I have some evidence to backup my point.
First of all, Spinies have a variant from Mario & Luigi Bowsers inside story called Spike Blob who's clearly just a slime with a Spiny shell on yet it's claimed to be a Spiny subspecies. It also never removes the shell so it's best to assume that it's shell is probably attached, all of this is very similar to Goombeetle.

Another thing is the name. With most Hybrids the last word of the name is mainly what the creature is like the Goomerang Bro and Fly bomb which let me know despite being a Hybrid it's more related to a Bob-omb then a Fly. The name of a Goombeetle is similar to the Goomerang Bro and also ends with the name "Beetle" Possibly meaning its more Buzzy then Goomba but still making it a Hybrid. That would probably explain the red eyes, Dark environment, and no Mouth.

Overall that's what I think. I think Goombeetles are Goomba/Buzzy beetle Hybrids. What do you think?
