I think Itd be awesome.

Maybe where their planets bump right into each other and thier worlds get mixed up!
 
If it wasn't a spin-off, that'd be great.
 
A crossover type game could be fun (like Mario playing through Sonic-ish levels, and vice-versa).

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Seeing Mario walk those big spirals in Sonic's world would be hilarious.

It worked out pretty well when people hacked Mario into Airman's stage.

Would be cool to see a fat plumber accumulate that.
 
I heard that Shigeru Miyamoto himself actually said that a non spin-off crossover would be impossible, because the differences between the gameplay of Mario and Sonic are too great.

But I do agree with the idea of Mario in Sonic-ish levels and vice-versa. And to top it all off, have Mario fight Eggman, and Sonic fight Bowser.
 
By my last reckoning, though, Bowser doesn't hate Sonic. He actually might kind of like Sonic, seeing as they're so similar.

It'd certainly strain any Mario-Sonic friendship if it happened.

Why would Bowser hate Sonic in the first place? And how are they similar?
