Re: Alex95's Thread of Stuff (Power Master/The 'Shroom/YouTube)

It's coming along pretty well so far.

Re: Alex95's Thread of Stuff (Power Master/The 'Shroom/YouTube)

Originally, my Power Master Wiki was hosted by the Wikia community. Since the move to the Gamepedia community, I have not maintained the Wikia version much and it got outdated. With that and Wikia's new policy updates that can make their wikis difficult to use, I asked the Power Master Wikia to be closed, and they agreed.

It was a good start, but the site sucked. Gamepedia version I still use is here: https://powermaster.gamepedia.com/Power_Master_Wiki

(And yes, I did send feedback about Wikia in my request to close the wiki :bowser: )

Re: Alex95's Thread of Stuff (Power Master/The 'Shroom/YouTube)

The remake we asked for, though I'm unsure if I want it, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey (The_'Shroom:Issue_140/Pipe_Plaza#Upcoming_Game) is the topic of this month's Upcoming Game!

It's Zelda Month! I thought I'd celebrate it by taking a look at what into making the original The Legend of Zelda (The_'Shroom:Issue_140/Critic_Corner#Could_Have_Been) for this month's Could Have Been!

And as I say at the end of both of those, I'm stepping down from those articles. Going over some things and priorities to get ready for 2019, and I noticed 'Shroom issues have been taking a backseat lately. I get my sections in on time, but I haven't been working on them as hard as I have been other things such as the homefront and Power Master. So rather than having too many things to focus on, I decided to can some things, and Could Have Been and Upcoming Game will be open to anyone who wants to take them over after the December 2018 issue.

Will still do NIWA Spotlight (The_'Shroom:Issue_140/Pipe_Plaza#NIWA_Spotlight), though

Re: Alex95's Thread of Stuff (Power Master, Wikis, Videos, and Patreon)

What I did in 2018, followed by my plans for 2019. Overall, 2018 was pretty successful. Got my driver's license, Power Master hit 200 downloads, and got some promotions on NIWA wikis!

One goal I did not reach is getting a job, which is mainly due to the many health issues I have. Job search is going nowhere, despite trying literally all of 2018 to get one, so I'm starting a Patreon. Any support would be appreciated :)

I'm also planning on moving away from YouTube, instead using this channel as an archive. YouTube's policies and algorithms aren't meant for a channel like mine, but I still want to share my gaming experiences with others. So, my Hardcore and standard playthroughs will be hosted on my Twitch channel listed below. I may still use YouTube for other video ideas I have.

Additionally, I'm releasing a new demo of Power Master: A Strange Journey MV! The demo will contain more towns, characters, and the overworld of Moneo. All of these will take effect at the start of January 2019.

In other news, the final Upcoming Game (The_'Shroom:Issue_141/Pipe_Plaza#Upcoming_Game) and Could Have Been (The_'Shroom:Issue_141/Critic_Corner#Could_Have_Been) from me are up! I cover the upcoming Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles remake and the entire Super Smash Bros. series respectively. NIWA Spotlight (The_'Shroom:Issue_141/Pipe_Plaza#NIWA_Spotlight) is also up, and will continue for the foreseeable future. I also have a separate section going over my memories when I first played Super Smash Bros. Melee (The_'Shroom:Issue_141/It_All_Started_With_Melee). Give them a read! Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

The new demo of Power Master: A Strange Journey MV is up! More towns, more characters, more quests, more everything! https://powermaster.itch.io/power-master-1-a-strange-journey-mv-demo

My Patreon has also gone up! $5 gets your name in the credits of the final game, and $10 will allow you to download future updates when they become available! https://www.patreon.com/powermaster

And! Starting a new Twitch schedule today! Monday and Wednesday from 1-2pm Pacific Time will be gameplay videos, while Friday at the same time will be Power Master development! https://www.twitch.tv/hardcorealex95

Re: Alex95's Thread of Stuff (Power Master, Wikis, Videos, and Patreon)

I showed how I draw character portraits on Friday. Streamed it, but the video is archived on my Power Master YouTube channel. Give it a look if you want, and there will hopefully be another Power Master stream this Friday!

(Huh, weird, OBS didn't capture the paint.net menus. Just looks like I click on nothing and something happens anyway.)

Was going to try and stream today with the whole family in the house, thinking I can just fight through it. But now I'm having internet issues, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

On that note, though, thinking of halting streams for a while. I know I just started a new schedule, but things just aren't working out. Recording equipment isn't the best, and it shows. Need to focus more on other priorities, such as job finding and actually getting Power Master done. I like sharing my experiences with video games, but will have to find another way. I find this as a good thing, though. I'm exploring my options, still trying to find where I fit best. Recording game play videos just doesn't seem to be working out and it's difficult to plan into the day, surprisingly. Clearly not as big a priority as other things I have to do. I may make more videos, but they'll likely just be Power Master trailers or bits. If I come back into streaming, it will be with better equipment.

Until then, see you around.

In regards to the above, I want to continue with Power Master streams, but will have to change how I do things. Gameplay stuff is done, though. Keep an eye on Twitch, I guess ^^;

Otherwise, got Rora Capers and its boss, Bruze. Rora Capers's first floor is partially submerged, but the bottom floor is completely underwater. Not sure if I want Bruze to be a natural or artificial enemy, though.

Demo 0.3.0 of Power Master: A Strange Journey MV is ready to be distributed to Patreon supporters! Demos 0.3.0 and onward until the full release will only be available to supporters of the $10 tier, so show your support if you'd like to play the game early :)

The wiki has also moved to a new host! It can now be found at https://powermasterwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page. It is still being worked on from moving away from Gamepedia, so a lot of code and images are broken, but things will be fixed as time continues.

Drew a new portrait for Stephan using a digital drawing pad I got the other day! Always been better drawing with pencil than a computer mouse, so I think this turned out rather well. Still some room for improvement, but not bad for a first attempt ^^

D7ciHzSUYAAH-aZ.png

After getting a new art tablet, I think my art has improved! I at least like how it came out more than what I've done before. It's much easier to use a pen than a mouse, and I have access to new styles in Krita than I did in Paint.net. I still have a ways to go, but the portrait has already been progressing faster and more accurate to the original concepts than I could with a mouse.

However, one of the mechanics in Power Master: A Strange Journey MV is having every character graphic change based on what armor that character is wearing. I have already made 400+ portraits for the 10 or so characters that have been revealed, and there are 19 characters total, each with 85 pieces of armor to wear.

I think I overworked myself. Because of the way the main character graphics work, I can show whatever portrait is available, but can't do emotions very easily, so I can't swap to that. So what should I do (please vote in poll):
1) Use static portraits for the characters, minimal graphic changes will occur to keep things moving forward?
2) Remake all 400+ portraits in the new style and continue making new portraits for the many pieces of armor?
3) Stick with the original graphics?

Hamilton.png

The Super Mario Wiki Awards took up a lot of my time, so Hamilton took longer than I thought ^^; But he's done now! Helen should take about a week and a half if I focus enough :P

If you ever wanted to play a bad(der) quality version of Joke's End, here you go! https://powermaster.itch.io/worst-rpg-area

Also, Helen is finished I think. There's something not quite right with her left arm, probably too skinny?
Helen.png

Arms are still so annoying.

If there is one thing that artists can truly consider a threat, it's that particular body part.

Portraits look nice, as someone who also makes up portraits myself. I feel like Helen's eyebrows should be a bit thicker though, she looks a bit soulless to me in this state.

I made the eyebrows thicker ^^

The twins from Fora, Andrew (right) and Andrea (left). I changed Andrea's shirt color to differentiate her from Andrew a bit more, used to be red like his. (Andrew's eyebrows are not orange in this combined pic, but I fixed them in the individual portrait :P)

Game Overs! They suck, but how they are managed can be fun. If the main character falls in battle and is not revived by the battle's end, they are sent to a Limbo world. There, they have to avoid Wandering Souls and Sentries to return to the last town they visited in order to regain their life.
- Wandering Souls will give a game over in some way, either a real Game Over or just trapping the player in a menu-disabled Limbo world indefinitely.
- Sentries, though, I'm undecided on:

1 - Make Power Master MV a one file game (like Pokemon) and have their file be erased should a Sentry catch them. This is a *difficult* challenge.
2 - Keep multiple files, but have *every* file get erased when the player is caught by a Sentry. This is an *intense* difficulty, as it concerns every other file being used.
There is no way to make the game know what file is in use, so it's either use only one file or remove all of them.
OR
3 - Have the Sentries keep sending the player back to the start of Limbo. This allows the player to keep trying to return to life. This is an *easier* challenge.
Either way, the player still has the option to just reset the game and continue from their last save. This would result in the lost of collectables since that save, so returning to the last town would allow them to keep any progress made.

So my question is, which difficulty would you prefer? New poll!

I will also try to be a bit more active on updates on stuff I do, while also trying to limit my time on social media ^^; Commissions are open!
