What would be an acceptable sequel to Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door?

Paper Mario: TTYD is often regarded as the best Mario game, at least in the RPG category. Sadly, any Paper Mario games have at best gotten mixed reception and at worst, gotten mostly negative feedback.

So I ask the Paper Mario fanatics, what would be a worthy sequel to Paper Mario: TTYD and what would it need?

probably needs a door that's two thousand years old

Actually, I'd like to see Paper Mario retired in favor of a 3D Mario RPG series.

Paper Mario was great for a while, but now it's overstayed its welcome.

it's literally had four titles (5 if you count the mash-up but four "genuine" titles)

the last one was in 2012
 
Mario in claymation as a 3D RPG game as a spiritual successor or something.

You spelled Dalmatians wrong.

Also, I'd like the partner system from Super Paper Mario. Switch between Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Yoshi, but you'd control all in battle.

Make Luigi an actual partner. Same for Toad and Toadette.

Make Paper Mario games use a card deck-like system like in Baiten Kaitos because, you know, cards are paper.
