post any random Mario thought on your mind

This is a weird thought but how can the bootleg Mario games from Russia for the Sega Genesis mentioned in Patmac's YT video have not been taken down by Nintendo? It's making the company look bad with what seems to be low quality Scratch games and terrifying game over screens.

There's so many Mario bootlegs out there, it'd be impossible for them to take them all down. It's also really old.

I know lol but those from Russia just take the cake compared to others

If you take a look at the development for New Super Mario Bros. Wii, there is an unused chicken suit powerup that was scrapped . It would have been very bizzare if it actually got used, but what abilities do you think it would have given players if it were made a reality?

Here's how I picture a chicken powerup:
  • Mario and co. would gain the ability to peck at blocks and foes in front of them. Think of it as a shorter-ranged but quicker elephant strike.
  • Gain the ability to run faster because chickens are fast! Have you ever tried to catch one? A quick Google search will tell you that they run at 9 miles per hour.
  • Sadly, you won't gain the ability to fly, because chickens can't fly.

I would say egg projectiles that are fired directly downward and have an awkward football bounce pattern. I don't think there's a plausible second power, but if there had to be a second power it could be "reduce falling speed" based on how chickens still have wings.

I doubt chicken suit will become a reality tho and tbh I think for a bird themed powerup, the penguin suit fits Mario aesthetics better

Ah, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. I have to admit, I didn't understand the love for the game and thought it was massively overrated, but when I watched Emile's Let's Play of it, it opened my eyes to just how amazing this game was, especially its story and characters. Though the story got upstaged by Super Paper Mario, at the time it was considered the pinnacle of Mario storytelling and even video game storytelling in general.

I have seen the light, my brethren! I am not worthy!

But seriously, does anyone else want to recall why the game is so loved, for those who are living under a rock?

A big reason is that people grew up on it, and that's not even a bad reason to enjoy something, most of the properties we love today is because we grew up on it (I wouldn't love the Mario franchise this much if I wasn't raised with it my entire life). The game contains an easy and intuitive battle system that isn't just selecting options from menus in order to deal damage to enemies (the QTEs make it feel like players are doing something than watching animations play), people love the party members and their unique attacks, the story has a right mix of quirky and serious tones and being extremely easy to follow (the length of the game is on the short side as opposed to many RPGs making it more easily digestible for children than something like Baten Katios), the game has an appealing art-style and musical themes, plus people like the Mario branding since Mario is familiar.

I'm not a huge fan of The Thousand Year Door myself but even I can understand why it has its fans.

In the recent dev interview for Bananza, Kenta Motokura (producer) states:

This is was a funny observation on their part, and it's funny because it's often true. For instance, I never found it appealing to play as DK in Mario Kart because not a whole lot of what makes him recognizable is reflected when you control him.

With other characters, you still see core parts of their identity when you view them from behind. The bros. have their caps, the princesses their crowns, Bowser has his spiked shell and red mane, heck, other Kongs have striking pieces of attire. With DK, his main draw is arguably the tie, which is mostly hidden away from the player. What remains is a "mass of brown fur" that is pretty boring to play as in a 3D space.

DK also has a remarkable primitive side to him that is lost in Mario Kart. He is kind of designed to be more animal-like than other characters, even other Kongs, and move around by dragging his knuckles. Bananza even retains that side of him, which I think counterbalances the lack of other immediately identifying features when viewed from behind. Putting him behind a wheel inherently strips him of this trait and just kinda renders him as a generic heavyset, hunched humanoid.

This is why I've always preferred playing as other Kongs in Mario Kart despite being a fan of DK.
I like Donkey Kong Jungle now

Knowing you, you probably wish Baby Luigi magically made an appearance. How that would happen? I don't fucking know, just spawn some random bullshit out of nowhere to advance the plot. Maybe Grodus tries to torture Pennington to figure out how to stop Mario, only for Pennington to trick him into thinking he's been fighting Luigi all this time, so he goes back in time to kill Baby Luigi so he can't stop him.

It's a good track ngl. Honestly the MK7 tracks are underrated. I like its Rainbow Road and the Music Park track aka Melody Motorway (it's million times better non North American name).

SORRY I have my own opinions on video games I WISH there was VS Mode in MK7

Super Mario Land 2: why on Earth does Mario have a castle? He's not royalty, unless he ever actually marries Princess Peach.

It is kind of cute that Mario Tornado, Mario's down special move, and Corkscrew, Wario's up special move, are counterparts in one sense. Both are multihitting spinning attacks with a final launching hit where the user stretches out, but have several mechanical differerences. (It would probably work better if Mario Tornado was still a special move in the games that have Wario in them, but I digress.)

Don't forget Luigi Cyclone! #LuigiForLife

I wonder how many people Bowser actually killed and if it affected their families and if he ever thinks about it (maybe that's why he plays sports with the good guys).

I'm glad I'm so good at Bob-omb Blast in MK8D that I can get more points in one five-minute round than some CPUs get in the entire 24-round match.

Bob-omb Blast is one of my favorite battle modes in MK8DX. I also like the Renegade Roundup and Balloon Blast. Honestly tho, I play more actual races as I'm currently try-harding in that game. I got to over 5000 vr in worldwides and I hope to eventually get up to 10000 vr.
