Because everyone left. Can you change the rules and add CPU? The item distribution has terrible balance for a small number of players.

Hard would be great for me, but others would have a hard time. I don't like normal because there's no challenge.

It's not necessarily a combo, just skill.
 
So, apparently the reason rooms are disconnecting is when people leave the room before voting. Hopefully Nintendo fixes this, but until then just vote before you leave the room.

no, it's not. as soon as we start racing, there's an immediate and significant gap between me and the rest of you
 
no, i do the starting boost too

i can see for myself. they accelerate quickly and then maintain that gap for the whole race. it only grows larger, really. and while obviously i'm not as good as them, i can definitely tell you that there's some huge imbalance in the combinations
 
Well, depending on when you start holding down the accelerate button, you get a bigger boost. If you hold it barely after 2 appears, you get the longest boost.
