Even though they've done some of the most ridiculous things.

They're a huge corporation. I'd expect them to do stupid things, just as with a lot of other huge corporations.

They have different ways of ordering results so one may give you better results than another. For instance, Google's top results favour websites with many backlinks (ie: other pages that link to that website), as well as websites that pay for advertising, whereas other engines like Yahoo will tend to favour traffic

Money is also a factor but nobody knows how to compete with Google so this is kind of a bad thing to try and strive for.

Facebook Graph Search 'might' be a contender in the future because it specialises its search to find 'people' and 'places' rather than just webpages, but that also means people selling their soul to Facebook instead so that any random person can find them based on their interests and whatnot.

So, what's the better method? Which one produces more relevant results in general?

Completely dependent on what your search criteria is and what you're looking for. None is really better than the other, it's just whatever you prefer.

If you're running a website it is much easier to control your results on Google because it is based on backlinks**. You can essentially sign up for forums/blogs/stuff and just make posts with a text link to your website in a signature or in the post content, and that basically puts you one step higher on the Google results ladder. If you were to do this, you'd get the best results by changing your text link to the search criteria you want people to put in to find your website. For instance, my forum is a general discussion forum but its name doesn't reflect that at all, so I would have a text link saying 'general discussion forum' rather than 'Dashing forums.'

**Every couple of months Google changes their algorithm so that it isn't just sheer number of backlinks, or they'll devise a new way of calculating them, so you have to be on your toes sometimes.

Now, because people may be (and likely are) skewing with the results on Google and you want your search to provide results based purely on activity then you might be better off using something like Yahoo. However, considering everyone uses Google anyway the highest ones on there are probably going to be the highest in traffic, and thus the highest on Yahoo for the same search criteria.

I hope that all made sense.

I don't really know about Bing or others.

Oh, that makes more sense. Wouldn't it make Yahoo a tad redundant now, though? Searching on either of those two seems to generate similar results, so I just deem anything that is not Google useless.

Or other corporations are afraid of monopoly.

Boardgameaphobia is a rather strange fear.

Everyone in business loves monopoly, yet nobody does if he or she doesn't get the benefit of it.

Business people should get into Boom Street instead.

They need to hope the die is on their side while trying to run Wario out of business.
