That didn't seem like such a surprise. After all, he WAS already in Brawl, and Lost World is a Wii U and 3DS exclusive.

..huh. I just decided to look it up, and it turns out Sonic Colours and Sonic Generations sold about the same in the same period of time. And keep in mind Sonic Colours was ONLY for the Wii and DS, while Generations was for 360, PS3, PC and 3DS.

I think that's why Lost World is an exclusive for the Wii U and 3DS. Sega realised that the biggest market for Sonic games is on Nintendo devices.

With Sakurai having less direct control over development, Mega Man's inclusion, and Nintendo probably not wanting to risk a "T" again, it would surprise me if they brought him back.

I say either Snake returns, or Pac-Man takes his spot.

Or nothing happens at all and Sonic and Megaman are our only third parties.

Sure they could have four 3rd parties. But I'm not sure how confident I am in that happening.
 
I'd like no cuts this time around, so obviously I want Snake to return. I think he's the veteran in the most danger, though.
