What are your thoughts on this crossover series? You can talk about anything like: the games, events, characters or even rant on how it doesn't make sense.

Personally, i really like the games. I've never played the first one and don't plan to as I've heard complaints, and the second one was good (i have the ds version), but the London 2012 games is my favorite (i have the wii version). More events, London party mode and i just like it a Lot. overall, this series has good Gameplay and i honestly don't care that Mario can outrun Sonic.

Like most, if not EVERYONE, I want a decent platformer with the two. But that is wishful thinking. *laughs*

My fave would be Winter Olympics 2010 DS ver.. I played the Wii version but it was kinda meh. Both Summer Olympics 2008 were dull and did not interest me.

Never played London. Prolly never will. Don't plan to play Sochi either.

The adventure mode was cool. And yes a Platformer would suit a lot more fans. They probably can't come up with a story. Even though platformers don't need stories and Nintendo hasn't really been good at making stories anyway

The first one was really cool.

Unique, original, overall pretty fun.
Personally, I thought the first one was garbage. That alone ended up turning me off of the sequels completely.

Character and roster are the most controversial part, no doubt.

As a series, they should try to give each Olympics game different features. Fans get bored very easily to see a new game every two year, which is more frequent than any other Mario game.

The easiest way should be making things exotic. I can't really tell how different Sochi and Beijing are for now.

I wanted to play some of them games on the emulator to get them screenshots. All I really want to see is Mario doing synchronized swimming, ribbon twirling, and ice skating.

Here's my complaint about the 3DS London one.

The 3DS version of the London games limited characters even further by putting them in stereotypical categories ie the girls who can participate only in stereotypical events ie only girls can do figure skating and whatnot

That's super dumb.

you mean i can't play as waluigi in rhythmic ribbon?

BLASPHEMY!
Yup. In the 3DS, characters are in certain categories.

Mario, Luigi, Sonic, and Tails.

Amy, Peach, Daisy, and Blaze.

Knuckles, Vector, Bowser, and Donkey Kong.

Wario, Waluigi, Dr. Eggman, and Metal Sonic.

Yoshi, Bowser Jr., Shadow, and Silver.

So, basically, if you want Wario to be graceful performer in figure skating, you're out of luck. You're stuck with Amy, Peach, Daisy, and Blaze. And if you want Luigi to wipe the floor with Silver in ANY event, you're out of luck too.

Which is *bleep*ing stupid.

That's dumb. I have the Wii London games and you can have whoever do ribbon. But there is no ice skating

The 3DS London game is one of the worst Mario games of this generation.

I personally find the Summer ones boring, but I love the Winter one the most. I love Figure Skating so much (well I can't do it IRL lol) and Dream Ski Jumping. XD

Also, not to show off or anything, but I got into the Top 10 Regional Rankings and Top 20 for Worldwide Rankings for Dream Ski Jumping. Took these images on April 19th, 2013 (my capture card isn't really the best but whatever lol)

Also, in terms of stat differences, do you guys feel any (speed/power/skill) difference at all when using different character for the same event? I never really notice it. All I know is that in (Dream) Figure Skating, the ending poses are different and in Dream Snowball fight, your quantity of Snowballs varies, but as for the other events, I've never noticed a difference. =P

I like the series solely for combining two of my favorite video game franchises in one game. Even if I wish they'd branch out more then just Olympics game.

I only own the first game, and while I think the sequels were probably better done (I rented both recently). I only got the first one for the novelty of being the first game released to have Mario and Sonic in the game. The series going into it's fourth game now (Plus Brawl, and most likely SSB4) is slowly making the novelty not as special anymore. But that doesn't mean the first game doesn't hold a special place.

I also think the Olympic games started because it was part of a deal to include Sonic in Smash Bros. Which is an even more momentous occasion. I think the fourth game coming out on the Wii U is history repeating itself for Sonic's entrance into SSB4 as well. (Though this time Olympic Games isn't the only thing on Sega's side of the deal)
