I say it in the short "o" sound (jɑ) because that's always the way I heard it whenever I played a Mario game where Yoshi actually had a voice (and taking into consideration it's a Japanese name and the long "O" sound doesn't exist in Japanese so...)

yo-shi

/joʊʃiː/
I never knew there was any other way to say it before. I went and checked an episode of the cartoons since you mentioned it appearing there(I misread this, but the point stands) but I just found them saying it the normal way.
And Ralph, I'm pretty sure there's no /h/. ;)

That's easy. It's Yo-shi (ðætɡriːnˈdaɪ.nə.sɔːrθɪŋwɪððəˈdʒaɪ.əntnoʊzhuːiːtslɑːtsastʌf)

I say it like this,

Yoshi.

Pretty cool huh?

Yo (like Yo Dawg or whatevs) she (like the beginning of "sheet")
Basically that.
Same. Like how he says his name in the games.

I probably only have the pronounciation from Yoshi's Story in mind now, but don't they actually pronounce it kinda like "Yawshee" there? IIRC, it doesn't sound anywhere close to a Yo Dawg sound.

Yo like in yogurt...then shi, like, shi.

Like he says his own name in the Mario games he's playable in.

I sometimes pronounce it as Yo-s--t
