Apparently, the let's play is cancelled. This is because of the many, many attempts at aimless speculation several people attempted in the let's play thread on Something Awful. While there was somebody else than slowbeef who complained about it, they refused to listen to reason. slowbeef locked the thread and his final post did not detail anything about Oren's thoughts on the let's play.

This really saddens me because I actually wanted to participate in factually based speculation and not make aimless stabs everywhere and needlessly overcomplicating everything even though pretty much nothing was known up until this point.

So if anyone wants to know what happens in the game, they have to either learn Japanese or wait until an English patch is released, play the game and find out for themselves.

EDIT: BTW, I'm going with the first alternative.

EDIT 2: I checked the LP Master List and saw that DR2 wasn't on that list. This confirms that the let's play has been cancelled until future notice.

I highly agree with Nitwit here. What I enjoyed with the first game was the well-pulled-off characterisation of everyone in the game, and how the characters interacted with each other. I'm not going to get that if I read a plot summary of the game.

I hope Oren is going to try again. If he does, succeeds at keeping the thread clean and all, then maybe we'll be able to experience the game in its full glory. For now though, all we can do is hope that he's going to try again. But that doesn't seem very likely.

I know that Oren, Fedule and someone else are making an English patch of the first game. If they decide to do an English patch of this game, I'll definitely get it and play through it so I can experience the game to the fullest.

Sadly, I don't think that I'd be able to play this game even if a patch does come out for it, so I'm pretty stuck. I guess I've got to be patient and wait until there is a way for me to play/read it.

During the school trial, you will try to deduce who the culprit is, and then vote on who to accuse...

If you figure it out, and vote correctly...

The culprit will be "punished", and the rest of you will continue on the field trip.

But, if the culprit successfully tricks you bastards into accusing the wrong person...

...Then the culprit gets to leave! And the rest of you will be "punished" instead!

These are the rules of the school trial!

In other words, anyone who kills and successfully hides their guilt will be able to leave this island.

But, if they cannot overcome the school trial, they will be "punished"...
