How do you think they should shake up the level themes?

A recurring complaint about some Mario game (specifically the New Super Mario Bros. sub-series) is that they just use the same Grassland, Desert, Beach, Ice, Snow, Mountain, Forest and Lava themes in their worlds and levels. How do you think they should change it up?

I'm thinking of a level, a Haunted Desert level, where it's dark and bleak, but also scorching hot, with quicksands that take you to dark underground areas filled with Boos and Peepas...

A radioactive waste land would be nice with enemies that are mutated by the radioactive waste.

I'm thinking that they should use ANY theme not named Grass, Desert, Ice, Beach, Lava, etc. I don't care what it is, as long as it's not those same, stupid, boring themes

Add space and haunted levels to that list.

I had an idea for a New Super Mario World a while ago. The worlds were something like:

1. Grassland/Coast
2. Jungle (more ruins and puzzles than NSMB)
3. Meadow (tons of flowers, like in YI)
4. Rocky Beach/Ocean
5. Icy Mountains
6. Caves (minecarts and crystals)
7. Canyon/Oil Refinery (the plot would be that Bowser has conquered Dinosaur Land and enslaved the Yoshis to find oil)
8.Lava/Dark
