Clinton why

why you ruin the economy

and also why did bush not fix it

(The real problem is that he got the blame, though - it was Clinton and the Democrats that relaxed bank loan requirements that led to the recession)

wait, isn't that practically everything?

Why do you think Congress doesn't do anything? Because the nation is so divided.

George Washington had the right idea, not joining a party. I recently read a comment on a political site where the commenter suggested that the US would be better if it switched to a system with more than two main parties, similar to Rome.

Looking at how split the Republican base is now between moderates who support Romney and conservatives who support Santorum, I would personally want to see how our country worked if we split into a three-party system: Conservatives, Moderates, and Liberals.

Liberals would win (simply cause their are more liberals than conservatives) and the gays would have the right to marry and i would be happy than...well the conservatives would rebel do to fake rumors like the war on religion (because forcing churchs to give children to gay people so wrong) and how liberals are trying to take their guns away (yeah making sure you don't have a firearm in a school =/= taking away guns) and well shit would go down

That doesn't factor in the conservative and moderate liberals, the liberal and moderate conservatives, or the liberal and conservative moderates.

YES

...wait, why exactly is that book becoming popular all of a sudden

A movie's being made.
Ooooohhhh, that makes sense.

I honestly did not know that.

They will never take away our right to bear arms! Here in the South, we lurve guns.

A friend of mine actually made a hypothetical country for one of his classes. It was a sort of modern day CSA, created when China attacked the US but the South was able to repulse them thanks to Second Amendment users (he posted a picture of a redneck).

And you can't really check the polls as to how many liberals there are as opposed to conservatives, because the media is either liberal (most of it) or horribly conservative (the infamous FOX news comes to mind).

how can you be a conservative liberal

does not compute

Most people can't be categorized as liberals or conservatives in all cases. For example, someone may be liberal when it comes to policies concerning social issues but conservative when it comes to policies concerning the economy.

I'm one hundred percent liberal when it comes to social issues

I like Polk simply because he did everything he promised he would.

Can't stand Buchanan. He was the worst of all.

hey wait

I forgot the crucial fourth party

The SOCIALIST PARTY YEAH

My AP World History teacher made a diagram that described the changes in Europe leading up to World War I.

^
Conservative (Monarchy - Russia pre-revolution)
.
Moderate (Parliamentary Monarchy - England)
.
Liberal
V

Socialism (in effect, what liberalism eventually leads to)

Okay, a three-party system wouldn't work.

So now we make enough parties to cater to general desires and go with that, I guess.

If that's what it takes to give gay people equal rights than so be it

Yeah that whole war with Mexico over there land was awesome right

I think it helps that I don't view issues as potentially messy.

Well on one hand it is technically a human life but on the other hand a murderer is also a human...

Odd, considering that the common argument against abortion is that it is the murder of a fetus.

Indeed but it's ok because he killed people bull shit he's still a human being

I only have two issues with the death penalty.

1. It's inefficient.

2. Murder is illegal, but murder mandated by the state is not. WTF?
