I heard somewhere a long time ago that you are not supposed to have your N64 on a carpet. It's likely the same for the Wii. Not sure why, though.

On its side. If its like that it can't be damaged much because it can't fall. Knowing me the Wii would fall down at least once a day.
Also a bump was OK since it wasn't a year old and about a month old only.

For about a week after I got it, I had my Wii UPSIDE DOWN. I, stupidly enough, thought it was in the right position until I noticed the inverted text on the Eject button. It's currently right side up.
