As far as I've been experiencing, mirrours already make it hard, the dungeon layouts are different, and the settings of the enemies are making it more complicated.

yeah, apparently there are redeads at the begining of the game.

They were during the normal version as well.
They actually always were there, if you want to get the Sun Song.
