  • IDK if anyone else here has been celebrating but from February 14th last year until March 18th this one it's the anniversary of the year of Luigi. I dread how there is now less than a month of this glorious year of Twoigi :(

It's a shame that Nintendo didn't really acknowledge Luigi's 40th anniversary last year, especially since I missed the Year of Luigi in 2013.

Yeah, it is disappointing, I'm very nostalgic for the first year and have been making videos for the second. It's a shame more people weren't given the chance to live the proper Luigi centric existence we all crave
Does Nintendo buying Next level mean we could see more LM characters folded into the main cast through merch and spin-off appearances? I'd hope so as though I'm not a violent person if I can't get a Gooigi plush at some point I will be putting 'murder' on my to do list.

Next Level has been for a while exclusively developing Nintendo games. LM characters always have been a bit separate from "main cast". E Gadd did have relevance at some point, as he's from the first Luigi's Mansion and that was developed by Nintendo and was seen/mentioned (through inventions) in several spinoffs including Partners in Time, Mario Party 6, Mario Party Advance, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart (even Arcade GP with Robo Mario),, Superstar Saga, but it seems like Luigi's Mansion didn't have as much clout as it used to on the spinoffs (Portrait Ghosts being removed in both Mario Kart 7 remake of Luigi's Mansion and the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Luigi's remake of GCN Luigi's Mansion battle arena are both really low points). E. Gadd hasn't appeared outside of Luigi's Mansion and remakes in forever.

Right but as you've said they weren't always so separate, that was a relatively recent thing starting somewhere in the late 2000s~early 2010s, there's a good chance that's 'cuz it became a backburner brand as it was old and on a system that didn't do to well so they outsourced the franchise to a third party for a handheld exclusive game, but since LM2 and 3 did so well (hell 3 alone sold almost half of the entire Fire Emblem series' sales) and being in the top ten best selling Switch games for a time, said games success clearly is what lead to Nintendo scooping Next Level up and they're reportedly already prodding next level to make a new one, given how much the brands expanded in coming years I'd expect LM to regain the aforementioned 'Clout'
